What is LeHo
Learning at Home and in the Hospital (LeHo)
 LeHo is a European project tasked with
developing an online hub to provide tools and
resources for people engaged with or involved
in home- and hospital-based education
 Its main aim is to explore ICT-based solutions
that enable children in hospital, at home or
attending school part-time, to access an
appropriate educational provision
Who are CHS
The Children’s Hospital School, Leicester
 Suzanne P Lavelle – Researcher
 Nicola Anderson – Deputy Head

Training Actions, Fieldwork Experiences and
Webinars
 Starting point:
Innovative practices collection
Validated by Board of Experts
Professionals with a high level experience from the field of HHE who
function in a liaison role between teachers, medical staff and the
decision makers at the policy level.
Board of Experts:
 Involved in LeHo's work to peer-review the
deliverables
 Helping and inspiring the Consortium's work
with their knowledge and ideas from their own
professional experience in the field of HHE
 Represent LeHo in their own professional
networks, thus providing higher visibility to the
project
Innovative Practices (IP) collection
Innovative Practices (IP) collection
 All partners were invited to contribute to the
collection and add their experiences
 CHS analysed the list based on the key educational
factors (KEFs) that were the outcome of focus group
discussions with medics and teachers involved in
hospital school education. These are:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Relationships
Making sense and constructing knowledge
Assuming roles
Metacognition
Individualities
Inter-institutional communication
Innovative Practices (IP) collection
 Based on analysis, CHS identified 4 IPs that covered
most of the KEFs. These were the best match for the
needs of the school
 Instruction Cards/TA instructions were drawn up for
these 4 KEFs, with a view that these could be used as a
basis for anyone (teachers, hospital staff or parents)
wishing to use them to carry out their own TAs at their
own institution
 These Instruction Cards serve as templates for all
partners to create their own, based on their chosen IPs
from the collection
Instruction Cards created by CHS


Educational Film Making
E-Twinning
Panda in my Seat
Real-time online Education
 Compendium of Information Cards – collection
of all the Instruction Cards created by all the
LeHo partners (available on the USB drive)
Groupwork
Please take a 15 minutes to complete the questions and then share and discuss within
your group.
Appoint a minute taker for the group who will later present the results to the full group
.
 Which of the fieldwork experiences are you planning to try?
 Describe the context where you are planning to develop the
activity (e. g. type of school/hospital, type of students
attending, age range, etc.…)
 Specific ideas on how you will realize the chosen activity? Which
target students? What objectives? What tools?
 Do you think it would be possible to involve some other
healthcare professionals in the process? How?
 Do you think the chosen activity and tool can be improved
upon? How?
