Purpose
The project manager is a contract employee position of Wanuskewin Heritage Park (WHP) and will be located on
site at WHP. This individual is responsible for coordination and management of all aspects of implementing a
comprehensive Capital Campaign Infrastructure Program, including multiple small to large commercial
construction projects with implementation according to the established time schedule. The Project Manager would
oversee both levels of work; at the Program level and Project level, as outlined below. Program components, and
project specific goals will generally fall under the following categories:
- site and landscape development;
- site servicing upgrades and development;
- building development;
- interpretive programming and displays; and
- on-going maintenance program.
The project manager also performs liason duties with the Capital Campaign fundraising group and leverages interproject opportunities to add value where it would otherwise not be attainable through the management of a
project in isolation.
Position type
Contract Position for 12 months with possible extension(s) related to project duties as required.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Wanuskewin Heritage Park (WHP) Board, the project
manager will:
• Plan, organize and direct all activities as required for the full implementation of Capital Campaign
Infrastructure Program (CCIP) goals, including, but not limited to:
• ensure that all project activities are consistent with the CCIP objectives and be met with available
financial resources and coordinate with current on-going management plans, such as the Resource
Management Plan and Bison Management Plan;
• ensure the program meets targets, budgets and timelines, with appropriate reporting and evaluation;
• counsels WHP management on specific actions to resolve conflicts within the organization that may
prevent the program/projects from achieving objectives;
• work in conjunction with the CEO and the Capital Campaign fundraising team to assist with
development of an on-going Operations & Maintenance budget to support the CCIP;
• identify key community organizations that may provide value to the CCIP goals and propose modes of
engagement in the program;
• in conjunction with WHP CEO, establish the process involving key groups and communicating with the
Board for review and oversight of all CCIP projects;
• Develop individual project methodologies and actively ensure safety, quality, and preservation of
cultural, archeological, landscape and environment integrity are at the forefront of consideration
during the planning and execution of all projects;
• Organize and coordinate all related consultations and meetings;
• Conduct research and analyses of pertinent information, discussion and data generation;
• Ensure timely preparation of information and other written documents/material as required for
implementation of program activities;
• Conduct an orderly, systematic and incremental evaluation of the CCIP for presentation every 3
months to the WHP Board; and
• engage in other program or project-related tasks as requested.
• Plan, organizing, and direct all activities as required for the full implementation of each specific project
within the Capital Campaign Infrastructure Program as an Owner Representative. These activities include,
but are not limited to:
• coordination, review and oversight (either directly or indirectly with another WHP project manager)
of design development, tender and construction for each specific project with WHP Design Team, as

defined by the Wanuskewin Building, Site and Interpretative Design Masterplans and current Capital
Campaign Infrastructure Budget;
develop, complete and finalize all project deliverables according to the timeline;
for each specific project, the Project Manager shall be responsible for:
o representing the Owner for all aspects of CCIP projects;
o project meetings with WHP, WHP-selected Design Team, Construction Manager (if applicable),
and other necessary groups are required throughout the project;
o definition of scope, budget and schedule requirements;
o management of project specific phasing, as well as in relation to phasing of the overall CCIP;
o process contract value change requests on behalf of the Owner; and
o prepare and maintain project documentation;
monitor conflict and intervene when necessary, providing direction to design team and construction
project managers as an Owner Representative; and
provide on-going status reports regarding scope, budget and schedule for CEO and Board for each
specific project in the context of the overall CCIP.
Qualifications
• Post-Secondary education in a related field.
• Minimum of 10 Years’ experience in the capacity of one or more disciplines of Project Management or
Construction Management within the industry on projects exceeding $2 million.
• Demonstrate proven skills as a team leader and motivator.
• Experience in project management, project evaluation and budgeting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and including report writing, position paper
development and publication/presentation of research results.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Word, WordPerfect, PowerPoint and Excel.
• LEAN experience considered an asset.
• Project accounting experience considered an asset.
