The Canvas User Interface (UI) ‐ Quickstart Guide The changes to the User Interface do not affect the tools, layout or functionality of anything in your Canvas courses. The changes only apply to the Canvas Dashboard and Global Navigation. The Dashboard is the first screen you will see after you log into Canvas. The Global Navigation menu [1] is now located on the left. The Dashboard [2] provides access to favorited courses and their updates. The Dashboard can switch between the display of favorite courses and the Recent Activity stream by using the toggle switch [3]. The sidebar [4] on the right of the screen, displays upcoming events in your active courses. Access grades through the View Grades [5] button on the Sidebar. Also in this Canvas UI, the Course Navigation menu [6] displays to the right of the Global Navigation menu. To expand or collapse the course navigation menu, click the Menu [7] icon. Profile, Settings and Logout are now located within Account [8].
