Frequently asked questions regarding Flexible membership at Kilcock Golf Club Q. What do units mean? A. Depending on which option you decide to take you will be issued with a number of units that will be credited to your membership account. 1 Unit equals €1. Q. How many units are deducted when I play? A. The unit charge varies depending on when you play based on peak and off peak play, the minimum unit charge is 10 and the maximum is 30. Q. What do you mean by peak and off peak? A. Peak and off peak times are determined by the demand on the timesheet, when there is high demand that is considered peak time, for example Saturday and Sunday mornings or competition times during the week. Q. Do I get a handicap as a Flexible member? A. Yes, all members are required to pay the applicable GUI or ILGU fee and insurance upon joining. If you already have a handicap you will need to produce your handicap certificate and if you want to get a handicap we will inform you of the process in order to get an official handicap once you have joined. Q. When can I play as a Flexible member? A. You can play whenever you choose 7 days a week provided the tee time is available and you have sufficient credit available to pay for your round. Q. Can I play in competitions? A. Yes you are entitled to play in all competitions provided you have paid your units for your round and have paid the competition entry fee. The competition entry fee is additional to units and is paid through your competition account on the BRS online booking system. Q. Are there any restrictions that come with being a Flexible member? A. The only difference between Flexible members and unlimited members is that you cannot win first place in the Major Competitions of the club. For example you cannot win the Captains prize, however you are entitled to play and should you have the best score on the day you will receive second place. Q. How long does my membership last? A. Your membership lasts for 12 months from the day you join and pay the relevant membership fee. Q. What happens if I run out of units during the year? A. You may top up your flexible membership account at any stage by a minimum of €50 Q. What happens if I have outstanding units at the end of my membership year? A. Upon re-joining you and carry forward a maximum of 100 units to your next year. If you do not decide re-join all units will be retained by the club.
