Coast Capital Savings eStatements Early Bird Contest Rules
THESE RULES GOVERN THE COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS ESTATEMENTS EARLY BIRD CONTEST. THEY EXEMPT
COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS CREDIT UNION AND OTHER PERSONS FROM LIABILITY AND CONTAIN IMPORTANT
PROVISIONS. BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND
AGREED TO BE BOUND BY THESE RULES. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH EACH PROVISION OF THESE RULES, YOU
MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS ESTATEMENTS EARLY BIRD CONTEST.
The Contest Period and Prize
•
The Coast Capital Savings eStatements Early Bird Contest (the “Contest”) is run by Coast Capital Savings
Credit Union (“Coast Capital”).
•
The Contest will run from 9:00 am PST on Thursday, December 1, 2016 to 11:59 pm PST on Monday, February 6,
2017 (the “Contest Period”). All entries must be received by Coast Capital within this period in order to be
eligible.
There is one prize of $1,000.00 cash available to be won (the “Prize”). The Prize will be awarded pursuant to
the time frames provided in these Rules under the How to Win and Claim Your Prize section.
•
How to Enter
Participants may enter the Contest in one of the following four ways:
1.
Online: sign into your account through online banking at coastcapitalsavings.com/eStatements and optin to receive electronic account statements (“eStatements”) during the Contest Period. Participants will be
automatically entered into the Contest after opting-in to receive eStatements.
2. Call-in: call our contact center at 1.888.517.7000 during the Contest Period and speak to a Coast Capital
representative to opt-in to receive eStatements. Participants will be automatically entered into the Contest
after opting-in to receive eStatements.
3. In branch: visit a Coast Capital branch and opt-in to receive eStatements during the Contest Period.
Participants will be automatically entered into the Contest after opting-in to receive eStatements.
4. Essay: to enter the Contest without opting in to eStatements, mail an original, legible, handwritten essay of
100 words or more (“Essay”) to Coast Capital on “Why Saving Paper is Important”. Essays must include the
entrant’s name, address, city, postal code, day and evening telephone numbers and be mailed in a postage
stamped envelope to Coast Capital Savings eStatements Early Bird Contest, #800-9900 King George Blvd,
Surrey, BC, V3T 0K7. A maximum of one entrant per Essay is allowed. To be eligible, your Essay must be
postmarked by the last day of the Contest Period.
•
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter the Contest. Each entrant can earn a maximum of one entry for
the Contest.
•
Multiple entries belonging to the same person will be automatically disqualified from the Contest if entries are
in excess of the allowed limit.
•
Coast Capital, in their sole discretion, shall be entitled to disqualify any potential entrant from participation in
the Contest, including by reason of the potential entrant behaving in a manner that is disruptive to the proper
operation of the Contest, unjust to other entrants or potential entrants, or contrary to these Rules.
•
Any decisions made by Coast Capital, including but not limited to those concerning the eligibility or
disqualification of entrants, are final and binding without right of appeal.
Coast Capital Savings eStatements Early Bird Contest Rules
Eligibility
•
The Contest is only open to legal residents of British Columbia who have reached the age of 19 and who are
members of Coast Capital Savings Credit Union.
•
Employees of Coast Capital and its affiliates and their immediate family members (defined as spouse, parent,
child, sibling and their respective spouses) and household members are not eligible to enter the Contest.
How to Win and Claim the Prizes
•
One potential winner will be selected through a random draw administered by Coast Capital on Thursday,
February 16, 2017.
•
The odds of winning the Prize depend on the number of valid entries received.
•
The potential winner will be notified by phone on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Coast Capital will attempt to
contact the potential winner using the contact information available in Coast Capital’s systems. Entrants are
solely responsible for ensuring that their contact information is correct and up-to-date.
•
If Coast Capital is unable for any reason to contact the potential winner or the potential winner does not
respond to Coast Capital within 48 hours of being contacted, Coast Capital reserves the right to disqualify the
potential winner and another entrant may be selected by Coast Capital by random draw in accordance with
these Rules.
•
The potential winner must claim the Prize within one week of being contacted or within an acceptable time
limit at the sole discretion of Coast Capital.
•
The potential winner must, within 5 days after the draw or by such other time as Coast Capital may agree at its
sole discretion, do the following in order to claim the Prize:

Go to any Coast Capital branch or, at Coast Capital’s sole discretion, an alternate location;
Provide valid proof of identity, age, and residence, or any relevant documentation requested by
Coast Capital; and
Complete a Declaration and Release Form, which includes correctly answering, without assistance,
a time-limited mathematical skill testing question.
•
The Prize will be provided by deposit into the potential winner’s Coast Capital account.
•
In the event that the potential winner is disqualified or is otherwise determined to be ineligible, Coast Capital
may, in its sole discretion, hold another random draw to determine an alternate potential winner.
•
The Prize must be accepted as described in these Rules and cannot be returned, transferred to another
individual, or substituted for another prize. Coast Capital reserves the right, in its sole discretion and for any
reason whatsoever, to substitute any prize or part thereof, with another prize of equivalent or greater value.

Release and Exclusion of Liability
By entering the Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless Coast Capital and its affiliates, and their
respective agents, employees, directors, officers, successors and assigns against any and all claims that are in any
way associated with the Contest, including but not limited to claims for:

erroneous, lost, late, incomplete, or misdirected entries, regardless of the cause;
failure for any reason whatsoever of a selected entrant to receive notice of a Prize;
typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of the Contest, including but not limited
to errors in advertising, these Rules, the selection and announcement of the Prize winners or
distribution of the Prizes;
any injury or damage to any person’s computer or data contained therein or other property as a
result of any person’s participation in the Contest;
defects or delays in the Prizes awarded that are outside of Coast Capital’s control;
any malfunction, failure relating to telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers,
access providers, computer equipment or software, failed or misdirected computer or telephone
transmissions, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic; or
any damage or loss, including any loss of use, loss of production, loss of profits (anticipated or
otherwise), loss of markets, economic loss, special, indirect, or consequential loss or damage or
aggravated or punitive damages, whether in contract, tort, or under any other theory of law or
equity, arising from, connected with, or relating to the Contest or the submission of entries to the
Contest, or participation in the Contest, or the Prize, or any charitable donations made by Coast
Capital related to the Contest, regardless of the cause or any negligence by any of the employees,
agents or representatives of Coast Capital or the Facilitator.
Personal Information
•
You authorize Coast Capital to collect and use your personal information to administer the Contest. By
entering the Contest, you authorize Coast Capital to broadcast, publish, and otherwise use your name, voice,
image (video and photographic), statements regarding the Contest, and place of residence for publicity and
promotional purposes, without any form of notice or remuneration.
•
All personal information collected for this Contest that is in the possession of Coast Capital will be destroyed
in accordance with the Coast Capital Savings Privacy Policy.
Dispute Resolution
•
All disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest, prizes or these Rules
will be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate
court of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
General Terms and Conditions
•
Coast Capital reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, suspend or terminate this Contest or
to amend the Rules, without notice and without compensation to any participant in the Contest.
•
Generally prizes and gifts are non-taxable, however you acknowledge and accept any responsibility of tax
liability.
•
The Contest and the Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with all applicable municipal
and provincial laws in British Columbia and federal laws in Canada.
