List of Endowment Awards

You are encouraged to nominate a student for one of the
following endowment awards for this year’s Heritage
College Graduation Ceremony:
• The Richard E. Henderson Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually
to the graduating student who, in the opinion of the Board, best combines qualities
of scholarship and service both to the college community and within the Region
served by Heritage.
• The Hugh Pomeroy Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually to the
graduating student who, in the opinion of the Board, best combines evidence of
advanced athletic ability with qualities of leadership and scholarship.
• The Jean Dufresne Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually to the
graduating mature student who has demonstrated perseverance, tenacity and
scholarship in overcoming barriers to academic success. A mature student is one
who has interrupted his or her studies for at least one year.
• The Robert W. Waddell Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually to
the student who has best demonstrated academic excellence, has actively
participated in the arts and culture, and whose enthusiasm has inspired team
success.
• The William Young Environment Protection Scholarship ($400) To be
presented annually to the student who has demonstrated interest and commitment
to environmental protection, has achieved academic excellence and shows interest
in an environmental studies program of a recognized college or university.

Additional Award Categories (pre-selected)
• The Deanna Wilson Hughes Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually
to the graduating nursing student who in the opinion of the Nursing Department,
best combines: excellence in clinical performance, active participation in
community and/or student life, leadership skills and academic achievement.
• The James M. Graham Memorial Award ($400) To be presented annually to a
graduating Continuing Education student in an Attestation program who, as
determined by the Academic Services – Continuing Education Department, best
combines the qualities of leadership, academic achievement, perseverance, tenacity
and employability.
• The Barbara Chase/Terrence Keough Essay Writing Award ($400) To be
presented annually to the student who submits an essay, based on a pre-determined
topic, which has best met the criteria of creativity, structure, persuasiveness, clarity
end effectiveness.
• The Lawrence Kolesar Award ($400) To be presented annually to the
graduating student who has accumulated the highest average over all semesters.
• Program Awards ($200 each) To be presented annually to graduating students
whose performance is judged to have been most outstanding in each of the various
academic programs/disciplines offered at Heritage.
• The Governor General’s medal To be presented annually to the graduating
student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a
diploma-level, post-secondary program (minimum two-year, full-time duration).
