MNA NURSES VOTE TO REJECT ALLINA’S OFFER
AND CONTINUE THE OPEN ENDED UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE STRIKE
Yesterday, Sunday October 2nd, and today, Monday October 3rd, MNA Nurses voted
on Allina’s September 29th Offer. Nurses at all five (5) Metro-Allina hospitals (Abbott
Northwestern Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Phillips Eye Institute, United Hospital, and Unity
Hospital) voted no and rejected Allina’s last offer.
The outcome of the vote means that MNA Nurses will remain on strike and continue to
fight hard for improvements to get a contract that is acceptable. Our amazing solidarity
will enable us to keep building a future of strength.
This has been a heart-wrenching time for nurses. They did not choose this fight with
Allina Health, and, after 8 months of trying to negotiate with our employer, many believe
that there was no other choice but to fight.
Throughout this fight, nurses have displayed amazing tenacity and creativity. Nurses
have found other jobs, helped one another with resumes and applications, explored
options for insurance, and shared skills with each other. We believe that this will
continue.
Next Steps
Your MNA Negotiation Team will inform Allina and the federal mediators of the rejection
of the contract. We hope that with this strong message, Allina will reconsider their last
position and come back to the bargaining table ready to get an agreement that is fair to
the nurses and to Allina Health.
In solidarity,
MNA Negotiation Team
