Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV) is a non-profit organisation, which supports those affected by eating
disorders, and their families. Eating Disorders Victoria also provides information, education and advocacy
about eating disorders to the wider community. The organisational values are Respect, Acceptance and
Hope, and these values underpin a philosophy of recovery. The organisation is led by a Board of
Management, and is funded by state government, philanthropic funds, fee for service activities and
donations. Much of EDV’s work is based on the principles of Mutual Support and Self Help. Volunteers are
critical members of the team, often bringing their lived experience of eating disorders to their role, and
enhance the organisation’s activities in a variety of ways including assisting EDV staff to respond to
requests for information, referral and support, and in the provision of support groups and community
education activities.
ROLE STATEMENT
The key role of the Education Coordinator is to deliver EDV Education programs to primary and secondary
schools, universities, local government, fitness industry professionals, sporting organisations, corporate
sectors and other community organisations. The range of education activities will include presentations,
workshops, seminars and other education and health promotion related activities and events.
The incumbent will work with other EDV staff to increase community awareness and understanding of
eating disorders and related issues such as dieting and body image, with a key focus on prevention and
early intervention.
This position will also be responsible for:

training and supervising sessional/contract trainers to assist in the delivery of the EDV Education
programs.

developing and updating education resources and training materials when required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage the delivery of EDV Education programs to a broad range of audiences.
 Train and manage sessional trainers who deliver EDV Education; ensure a consistent format and skill
level so that the quality of EDV Education is maintained.
 Engage in business development and pipeline management, including securing opportunities and
coordinating bookings
 Program reporting– provide monthly reports for all EDV Education programs including progress against
expected targets. Monitor expenditure in line with budget as approved by the EDV board.
 Evaluate delivery of training and provide evaluation reports to the line manager
 Promote EDV Education activities/products by strengthening existing stakeholder relations and building
new networks with a view to increase the awareness and use of EDV Education services in the
community.
 Develop, update and organise resources for EDV Education when required. Provide topical content for
websites and other publications aimed at young people and the general public.
 Remain up to date with current research and evidence based practice and disseminate this information
to EDV staff.
 Initiate, develop and deliver EDV community awareness activities, including Body Positive information
evenings, and other activities.
 Manage volunteers who undertake tasks and activities as part of services provided by the education
portfolio.
 Contribute to quality improvement, and service development.
 Other duties as directed by the line manager.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
 Relevant tertiary qualification in teaching/education. Working knowledge of Victorian education
system is also essential.

Experience in group facilitation, especially in training or workshop situations; evaluation and
analysis of client feedback and reporting of results to management and external organisations.

Proficiency to engage with a range of different audiences including: schools, fitness industry,
corporates, health and welfare workers, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge and experience in community education, community development and health
promotion, and substantial experience in these fields.

Ability and experience in developing effective, consistent and high quality education resources,
including experience using use of software packages such as MS-Powerpoint.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously, and to think strategically

Excellent organisational and administrative skills

Ability to work as a team member with colleagues within EDV and from other partner organisations,
and to develop engaging ways to address complex health and social issues.

The desire and ability to continue to undertake professional learning and development.

Ability to undertake some weekend and evening work.
Highly desirable:
 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Demonstrable knowledge of eating disorders, body image and related issues; including knowledge
of the risk factors, protective factors, prevention and early intervention strategies and initiatives,
and the impact of eating disorders on people and carers in a range of different environments
(schools, fitness industry, fashion industry etc).

Experience specifically in health promotion and disease prevention with regard to eating disorders
and body image.

Experience as a group facilitator for an eating disorder support group or other mutual support/selfhelp group operating within the community health framework.
CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT




The position will be based at the Eating Disorders Foundation of Victoria office, located at the
Collingwood Football Club Community Centre (corner Lulie and Abbot Sts, Abbotsford).
Working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm on mutually agreed days between Monday and Friday. Some
flexible hours will be required to ensure attendance at relevant meetings and events after hours.
Current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check.
The position is subject to a 3 month probationary period.
