JUNIOR SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM The CARE PROGRAM is designed to meet the needs of working parents. It provides a dependable regular daily service in a warm and caring environment. Children participate in a variety of activities. The Care Program is available every school day starting the first day of school (and the “Full Day” for PK & JAs). Space is limited ‐ Please register early. http://www.unis.org/beyond-the-classroom/camps-care-after-school HOMEWORK: Supervision and guidance is given to children with homework assignment. Quiet time is devoted to such work right at the beginning of the Program. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Children enjoy games and sports activities in the playground or the Gym. RECREATION: In the assigned CARE rooms; all sorts of toys, games, and books are available. Snack time is a moment for a friendly chat. Occasionally, the children are brought together for storytelling, drama or a game. ARTS & CRAFTS: Care teachers propose all sorts of projects. Projects include painting, collage, puppet making, beadwork, clay modeling, embroidery, craft‐kits etc. SPECIAL EVENTS: From time to time, we have a special event. It might be an afternoon of cooking or puppet show. It might mean a movie on a rainy day. We like to celebrate special occasions in all sorts of ways. We also love having parties to which parents are heartily invited to come if they can! Between 3‐5:45pm: You can pick up your child in the classrooms listed or the playground. Parents are required September J3 Classroom to submit in writing or via email the names of all October J1 Classroom November J2 Classroom individuals (caregivers/family members/friends) December J4 Classroom who is authorized to picking up their children. If January J1 Classroom a new person is picking up your child you must February J2 Classroom notify the office via email especially if the March J4 Classroom caregiver does not have an UNIS ID. April JA Classroom What do I do if I am running late? If you are May J3 Classroom June JA Classroom running late please inform the office as soon as possible. Your child will be waiting in the Special Programs Office or the Admission Testing Room. How does my child get to the Care Program? All homeroom teachers receive a list of students going to the Care Program. The homeroom teacher hands over those students to the C are Teachers. Make sure to notify the homeroom teacher to take your child to Care Program. How does my child get from an Afterschool Activity to the Care Program and Vice Versa? A student in the Care is escorted to and from their afterschool activities. Students are not allowed to go roam the school by themselves. Please note that private tutors/instructors (for musical instrument or any other subjects) are responsible for the pickup and drop off of their students.
