Men’s Cross Country
Head Coach: John Goodridge
 EMU finished up the 58th annual Notre Dame Invitational, Oct. 4... The squad took 18th in the 27-team
field with 461 points....Senior Harry Dixon paced the Eagles in the 8,000-meter race as the only top-50
finisher....His time of 25:11.2 earned the New Zealand native 43rd place among the 209 runners that
competed in the Men's Blue race...Just missing the top-50 mark was senior Grzegorz Kalinowski, who
nabbed 52nd place with his mark of 25:16.6.
 The Eagles are on the road next week for the Michigan Intercollegiates meet, Friday, Oct. 11 in Hillsdale,
Mich.
Women’s Cross Country
Head Coach: Sue Parks
 EMU nabbed a 15th place finish at the 58th annual Notre Dame Invitational, Oct. 4...The Green and White
finished the 5,000-meter race with a total of 339 points...Junior Victoria Voronko continued her pattern in
pacing the Eagles for the season, as she was the first Eagle and second competitor in the Women's Gold
race to cross the finish line...Her time of 17:21.9 was bested only by the University of Missouri-Kansas
City's Courtney Frerichs, who nabbed a first place finish with a 17:18.2 mark...Two more Eagles landed in
the top-100 of the 212-competitor field.
 The Green and White will have the next week off before competing in the Pre-NCAA Invitational,
Saturday, Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Football (1-4, 0-2 MAC)
Head Coach: Ron English
 In its first Mid-American Conference road game, EMU fell to the University at Buffalo, 42-14, Oct. 5...Tyler
Benz started out hot, completing his first four passes for 44 yards before ending the contest 12-of-19 for
157 yards...Ryan Brumfield led the ground attack with 79 yards on only two carries, including a 75-yard
touchdown run late in the fourth quarter...Like he has done all season long, Tyreese Russell recorded a
team-high four catches for 55 yards.
 Next week, the Eagles will wrap up its non-conference slate, traveling back to New York to face the Army
Black Knights. Kickoff from West Point is scheduled for 12:06 p.m. with the contest televised on CBS
Sports Network.
Men’s Golf
Head Coach: Bruce Cunningham
 EMU continues its 2013 fall schedule with the Firestone Invitational Presented by FirstEnergy Solutions,
Oct. 7-8, at the Firestone Country Club-North Course...The course will be set up as a par 72, playing a
distance of 7,125 yards. It will consist of 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 7, and 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 8...Play
will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on both days, with the second round played immediately following the
conclusion of the first round on Monday.
Women’s Golf
Head Coach: Sandy Wagner
 EMU heads to Fishers, Ind. to participate in the Mid-American Conference Preview, Oct. 7-8, at the
Hawthorns Golf and Country Club...Ball State University will host the tournament on the par 72, 6,127yard track...The Preview will be a 36-hole event with 18 holes on each day...Play will begin at 9:30 a.m. on
both days.

Women’s Rowing

 EMU completed its first meet of the 2013-14 season at the Head of the Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 5, on
the Oklahoma River...The Eagles 8+ team turned in a 12th place finish in their first race of the 2013-14
season...The boat led by coxswain Sarah Hillegonds crossed the line at 15:51.98, just 3.18 seconds behind
No. 19 Oklahoma's B boat.
 The Eagles will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 13 when they head to the Occoquan Chase in Occoquan, Va.
Women’s Soccer (7-4-1, 4-0-0 MAC)
Head Coach: Scott Hall
 EMU pounced on mistakes made by the Bowling Green State University Falcons, as the Green and White
increased its winning streak to five with a 2-1 victory under the lights of Cochrane Field, Oct. 4...The road
victory was the first of the season for the Eagles as they improved to 6-4-1 on the season, including a 3-00 mark in Mid-American Conference action...Stephanie Clarke scored the game-winning goal for EMU,
converting her third penalty kick of the season in as many tries after a BGSU (0-9-0, 0-3-0 MAC) handball
in the box.
 The Eagles won its sixth straight game and improved to 4-0-0 for the second consecutive season as EMU
shut out rival Central Michigan University, 3-0, Oct. 6…Angela Vultaggio, Emily Dzik and Cara Cutaia all
scored goals for the Green and White…Megan McCabe played all 90 minutes to earn her first individual
shutout of the season.
 The Green and White return to Ypsilanti for two more MAC contests next weekend. After EMU hosts Ball
State Friday afternoon, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m., the Eagles will take on MAC East Division-leading Miami
University Sunday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m.
Women’s Tennis (0-0, 0-0 MAC)

 The Green and White are off until Oct. 10 when they head to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the 2013 ITA Midwest
Regional Championships.
Women’s Volleyball (11-8, 1-3 MAC)
Head Coach: Kim Berrington
 EMU dropped its second straight road match at Western Michigan University, Oct. 5, in four sets...The
Eagles won the first frame, 26-24, before dropping three in a row to the Broncos, 20-25, 19-25 and 2225...The EMU offense was led by Erin Short who posted a career-high 17 kills and a .500 hitting
percentage in 34 attempts.
 EMU started its Mid-American Conference road schedule with a four set loss to Northern Illinois
University, Oct. 4, at Victor E. Court in DeKalb, Ill...The Eagles won the first set in extra points, 26-24,
before falling in three straight to the Huskies, 21-25, 19-25 and 21-25...The EMU offense was spread out
throughout the match as the Green and White had three student-athletes post double-digit kills in the
loss...Erin Short tied a season-best 12 kills, while posting a .344 hitting percentage with just one error in
32 attack attempts.
 Eastern returns to the Convocation Center Thursday, Oct. 10, for a matchup with the Central Michigan
University Chippewas…First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. and all the action can be followed on Eagle AllAccess.
