Anne Minor Softball 2017 Playoff Rules (U10/U12/U14/U16) Important Notes: During round-robin play, it will be 1 points for a win. There will be no ties, based on the half run awarded for the coin toss (see next point). There will be a coin toss to decide which team will be home team. Toss winner decides if they field or bat first. If they bat first, they are award a half run advantage. If they choose to field first, the other team gets to bat first and they receive half run advantage. Whichever team bats first gets half run advantage. In case of a 2 way tie after round-robin play, results of game vrs each other will be used to determine standing. In case of 3 way tie after round-robin play, total +/- (runs “for” minus runs “against”) will be used as determining factor. If still 3 way tie, ump to put the 3 team names in a “hat” and draw placement. In all round robin games, home team (bats last) must complete their bat in the last inning, to determine runs for/against to determine placing within each pool. Umpire will determine & announce the last inning. A game will consist of: o U10 - 5 innings, or a time limit of 1.5 hours. o U12/U14/U16 – 7 innings, or a time limit of 2.0 hours. 5 run rule is in effect for all innings. No “open” last inning. Umpire will determine & announce the last inning. No innings should start with less than 15 minutes to go in the time limit. When pitching, at all levels, both feet start on the “rubber”; one foot must remain in contact with the ground at all times. The placement on the schedule was done by a random draw. With the exception of the above, the Lac Ste. Anne Minor Softball League rules apply in all circumstances. Umpires: Host is responsible to provide plate umpires for all games. If teams are not prepared to play with only the plate ump provided by the host community, it is the responsibility of each team to provide base umps. Scorekeepers: After each inning, scorekeepers must verify that score-sheets are the same. If there is a discrepancy, the umpire must be notified at that time.
