Program philosophy
(Club name) lacrosse intends to expand the opportunity for high school lacrosse players to continue playing lacrosse while
working on their transfer or degree requirements at (college). By playing fall ball only, the players are able to compete as
long as they remain (college) students, and then transfer to the university or college level with 4 years of lacrosse eligibility
remaining. In addition, as the first legitimate California community college lacrosse program, we also are promoting the
sport at the community college level and have reached out to other community colleges encouraging and offering to aid in
their efforts to establish similar club programs. When the (mascot name) compete, they play to win, and the club’s intent is
to showcase (college) talent and forge strong relationships with the universities and 4-year colleges with whom we
compete.
Description of position
The intercollegiate Lacrosse Club team at (college) is seeking two coaches: one coach with experience teaching and
coaching defense and one coach with experience teaching and coaching offense. The hiring committee will determine
which coach will be considered the “head” coach. The position is to begin ASAP and extend through December 15th.
Practices are scheduled on Monday and Wednesday, and possibly Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. Fall ball
intercollegiate games may also be scheduled on Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as Friday evenings and
weekends. It is anticipated that the club will schedule approximately 16 games, inclusive of both home and away contests
and tournaments.
Duties and responsibilities
In addition to coaching duties, both coaches will also be co-club advisors for the club, and will officially represent the college
to the broader lacrosse community.












attendance at all games and practices
an organized, consistent warm-up routine and hold the team to it…the “(insert mascot) Way”
an organized sideline during practice and games(e.g., with player bags, team supplies, player sideline, etc)
a specific conditioning program into practices and drills and individual expectations outside of practice
development of an in-season and out-of-season weight training program
teaching offense/defense strategies and insist that players learn them, using techniques to insure that all
players learn plays, including off ball movement
mandatory chalk talks before practices, including game footage (will have classroom and technology, as
needed)
player attendance tracking at practice and games
holding to club rules of playing players who attend practice regularly and enforcing attendance
conducting an awards ceremony at the end of season
open communication with players
installing and enforcing discipline



establishing an organized practice plan; purpose behind all drills
maintaining a positive/reinforcing attitude toward the team
preparing players to play at the next level
The (Mascot) Way: Player conduct is extremely important to the program.. Players and coaches are expected to maintain
a professional decorum at all times, honoring the sport, our opponents, the officials, the college and its representatives, and
ourselves. As a club sport, (Mascot) Lacrosse is always vulnerable and it is essential that team members represent the
club with dignity and honor.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
College lacrosse experience as a player.
Two years of demonstrated successful coaching experience at the high school or college level.
Commitment to attend all scheduled practices and games.
Stipend
A stipend of $(insert amount) will be earned from the start date and paid at the end of the Fall season by the (name of club)
Lacrosse Club to the assistant coach, assuming compliance with the commitment, duties and responsibilities noted above.
