An Old man went to the doctor complaining of a terrible pain in his leg. “I am afraid it’s just old age”,
replied the doctor, “there is nothing we can do about it.” “That can’t be” fumed the old man, “you don’t
know what you are doing.” “How can you possibly know I am wrong?” countered the doctor. “Well it’s
quite obvious,” the old man replied, “my other leg is fine, and it’s the exact same age!”

As many of you know,
Norwood is a “Training
Practice”. This means that the
practice has to meet certain
standards to allow us to have
attached qualified Doctors.
These doctors are at various
stages of their training to
become GP’s or hospital Drs.
Our current 3 trainee doctors
are Dr Kate Martin, Dr Fran
Norman and Dr Simon
Jiggins. As a Practice we
would also take this
opportunity to say we support
the recent junior Drs strike
action as we agree with the
issues they have raised.
We would love to try and get an active patient
participation group together. The group would
have a number of patients covering varied
age groups, the Practice manager and one of
the GPs. They would ideally meet on a
regular basis to discuss the services on offer,
and how improvements can be made for the
benefit of patients and the practice.
Where to find health information
If you have access to the internet the two best
sites for health information are;
Patient.co.uk and NHS Choices at NHS.uk
Be aware of just googling symptoms - it can
cause unnecessary worries!
If you don’t have access to the internet then
ask at reception for information leaflets.
We appreciate that sometimes accessing the right care at the right time is challenging. We
all work extremely hard to try and provide the best service to our increasing number of
patients, within an increasingly tight budget, under a health minister who seems not to
understand General Practice at all. We would encourage you to obtain an up to date
Practice leaflet, get involved with our patient group but to always remember to treat our
staff with respect.
