Curriculum plan for Rainbow The students will be building individual confidence by walking independently, entering classroom and visiting different areas of the school. The children will be accessing a variety of activity’s available and will be introduced to turn taking and sharing. In Maths in Rainbow we will be counting items in and out of boxes. We will also be organising different coloured petals /leaves into piles. Additionally we will be singing counting songs and assessing Puzzles and Jigsaws. Colours Autumn In Rainbow for our Colour theme we will be using Traffic signals: Red, Amber, Green, (Stop and Go) alongside Bikes and Scooters outside. This will support the children’s outside awareness of colour and meanings. Turn taking and sharing cars and building blocks. Paper cut outs of Animals in set colours, thenwejoining together. In Literacy will use colour texture books, alongside messy play and whiteboards to encourage mark making and increase familiarity with letters. We will also play colour matching games to build familiarity with letters, colours and sounds. The children will be building independence and confidence to be able to request and use different tools /toys independently. We will be focus on the children’s ability to eat independently and safely. Continue to build recognition of symbols; i.e. (toilet, drink) to support independent requests. Requesting specific items (food/ toy) using communication boards throughout the day and at snack and lunch time. In Art we will be; painting, mixing colours, mark making using coloured sand and foam. Additionally we will be exploring Ice colours: melting paintings. We will take rubbings of letters, numbers and textures and be playing what’s behind the ‘green’ door? (Different coloured doors with coloured objects.) PE includes areas such as Soft Play, Circus Skills, Swimming, and Sensory Circuits. These subjects help to support independence in building strength and balance. In the studio we will be dancing with coloured ribbons, and using the Colour Cube; rolling, passing and catching to decide colours. Door requests: with a range of choices, (two to six) to consider the differentiation of the children.
