INSTALLATION MANUAL FOR EDEP SECURED VPN SOFTWARE
(This manual gives the instructions / steps to be followed for installing the EDEP secured
VPN software)
The EDEP secured VPN software will be installed only on Windows version of Operating
Systems running Windows XP with SP2 or Vista or Windows 7.
Note: No Laptops / portable devices are allowed for EDEP Paper downloads, only one Physical
System per college is allowed to download, decrypt and viewing the question paper.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS / STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:
I. .NET 3.5 Framework with SP1
You can download .net framework from this link if not installed in the system in which you will
be using / earmarked for EDEP paper downloads.

II. JAVA Run Time Environment:
You can download JAVA Run Time Environment from this link if not installed in the system in
which you will be using / earmarked for EDEP paper downloads.

III.
Steps to install VPN Client:
Download VPN Client: Download VPN client specific to each college by logging with their
college login details provided in the email sent for implementation of secured VPN tunnel.

e) login using the login credentials provided.
f) Download the VPN client clicking on the link openvpn-client.msi shown below
g) Install the VPN client; Please go through the following five steps for your
reference.
Step 1:
Double click on the downloaded VPN client, (.NET framework is required for this
installation without that this client will not be installed)
Click Next
Step 2:
Accept the terms and conditions and click Next
Step 3:
Click Next
Step 4:
Click on Install button
Step 5:
Click Finish button
IV.
Download the EDEP Secured VPN Software from JNTUH Examination Portal:
The Client software for EDEP secured VPN Software is available for download from the standby examinations portal http://exams1.jntuh.ac.in in the software section labeled as Download
EDEP Secured VPN Software.
1. Download the software which is in ZIP format.
2. Unzip the software to the required destination which contains three folders i.e., System
Registration Tool (SysReg), Paper Decryption Tool (DecTool) and Question Paper
Viewer (QPViewer)
V.
System / Computer Registration earmarked for EDEP secured VPN software:
Step 1:
Open System Registration Tool (SysReg) folder double click on Run.bat file / SysReg.jar
and Enter your College Code
Step2:
Check the message that the registration completed successfully or if any error message, if it
shows System Registered Successfully as shown below, they your system registered.

Connecting to VPN server using VPN Client:
Check for openVPN client icon on the desktop and double click on it, then it shows the
following screen and enter the IP of the VPN server 216.121.93.226
Step 7:
Enter College Login Details provided by University. The login details used for downloading
VPN Client and for connecting to VPN server are the same.

Connect to Examination Portal and download the Encrypted Papers
Now you can connect to examination portal and download the encrypted papers as you are doing
earlier. No change in this process.
VIII.
Decrypt the examination papers using Decryption Tool:
Step 1:
Open Paper Decryption Tool (DecTool) folder double click on Run.bat file / DecTool.jar and
Enter your College Code
Step 2:
If Decryption Tool is running on the same system which is registered for VPN Server then
Decryption Tool runs otherwise it gives you error.
After Decryption process is completed successfully, Decrypted PDF files will be saved at the
location mentioned as destination path above, which will be opened only in QPViewer.
IX.
Question Paper Viewer (QPViewer):
Step 1:
Open Question Paper Viewer (QPViewer) folder double click on Run.bat file / QPViewer.jar
and Enter your College Code . If Question Paper Viewer Tool is running on the same system
which is registered for VPN Server then Question Paper Viewer Tool runs otherwise it gives
you error.
Step2:
Select File-> Open, and open Encrypted PDF files in Question Paper Viewer (QPViewer) it
prompts you to enter your College Code then “Enter Day Password”. You will be getting
Water Marked Question Paper ready to be printed.
