6. FORMAT:
1. QUALIFYING ROUND (Saturday, April 1, 2017): 6 games across 12 lanes, then
field is cut to one 3rd and 3 additional games are bowled. Total pins for the combined
9 games will determine the 8 match play finalists. (7 if defending 2016 champion
participates in the tournament.)
2. FINALS (Sunday, April 2, 2017): Match Play Competition: Each match will consist
of 2 games, with total pins determining the winner. Higher seed in each match shall
have choice of starting lane. Left lane will start each match. Once defeated the loser
moves to the loser’s bracket on the match play grid. A loss in the loser’s bracket
eliminates that bowler from the competition. The survivor of the loser’s bracket will
bowl the survivor of the winner’s bracket to determine the GREATER DENVER
USBC SENIOR MASTERS CHAMPION. A win by the bowler from the loser’s
bracket will require a second match to determine the winner.
3. If a bowler is unable to appear for the first round of finals, the next qualifier will be
given the opportunity for replacement. After the first round no substitutes will be
allowed. Non-appearance, regardless of cause, will constitute forfeiture of the match
and the player present will bowl his games without opposition. If the forfeiture
occurs in the winner’s bracket the absent player will automatically go into the proper
position in the loser’s bracket.
7. TIES: 1) To determine who qualifies for the match play finals: 1 complete game following
the qualifying competition. 2 frame roll-off if still tied.
