Whether for cooking, baking, washing up or for preparation of
hot drinks – water is ubiquitous. However, to achieve the best
results, it is important to use the right water. Every application

Coffee
Whether classic coffee or fashionable coffee and espresso
specialities, the resulting drink always consists of around 98%
of water. The water therefore has a very significant impact
on taste. BRITA Professional water filters make it possible to

Dishwashers

It is our goal to increase this even further.

Environmental protection and recycling have been part of our
corporate philosophy for more than two decades. The use of
green electricity in the company, sustainable production and a
comprehensive returns programme since 1992 provides clear
evidence of this. The core of the recycling process is a modern,
BRITA-spe­cific, multifunctional plant. Here, the depleted filter
media are sanitised, foreign matter is removed, and the filter is
regenerated and optimised. At the end of this process, an ion
exchanger again fulfils all the functionality and hygienic quality
demands that also have to be met by new products.

Clean drinking water from the tap is a matter of course for us.
But however good the water from the tap is for drinking, it can
become challenging when it is used in gastronomy. Factors
such as water hardness, aroma and taste elements and particles
in the water can affect the quality of the end products, diminish
enjoyment and have a negative influence on the reliability of
the machines.
There are many elements in our drinking water that may have
an influence on taste and aroma, but also on the function of the
downstream machines.
Minerals
are flavour carriers that contribute to the ability of aromas of food
and drinks to develop. It is thus important that the minerals in the
water are carefully balanced. With an optimum composition, additional deposits such as limescale in machines are considerably
reduced.
Particles (e.g. rust)
mostly come from the building pipework and can lead to problems
in the machine functionality depending on the type and size.
Unwanted taste and aroma elements (e.g. chlorine) and
microorganisms
can affect or disguise fine aromas and should be reduced for professional applications.
