CLUB COACH VACANCY
York RI currently runs two senior mens teams together with a Ladies team
and is also focused on growing boys and girls rugby from U12 upwards. The
Club 1st XV plays in Yorkshire Div 4 and 2nd XV in the Central Merit Table.
The Ladies XV has just been promoted after winning the North 2 East division.
Our Club Development Officer is responsible for managing all matters relating
to the youth section. We have a Ladies Coach and several qualified Coaches
helping to develop the youth section.
We now seek a Club Coach to take specific responsibility for the senior sides
but also to work with existing personnel and contribute to improving the
structure and delivery of coaching across the whole club to ensure proper
player development and progression.
As Club Coach you will help us promote and grow York RI RUFC as a club, to
engage supporters, sponsors and the local community alike, and to maintain
and improve the reputation, relations and the image of the club as a whole.
The ability to communicate across the whole Club is fundamental to the role,
and creating buy-in from team members and member volunteers will ensure
delegation of appropriate duties and maintenance of expected standards of;
behaviour, dress-codes and other obligations.
Requisite Attributes




Demonstrable levels of achievement within the coaching sector at
similar/higher levels than that at which the club currently stands
A strong and influential character able to motivate players and work
closely with the Club Captain, Team Managers and Club Committee.
Self-motivated and driven with a desire for personal and club
progression
High levels of integrity and credibility with the ability to develop working
relationships both internally and externally

Ability to build on existing University and School links
We expect you to commit to the club's training sessions, which are held on
Mondays and Thursday evenings (7-8.30pm) and the league games that are
played on a Saturday.
The Ladies and Youth sections train on a Tuesday evening and some input
will be expected to support the CDO and existing Coaches.
Key Responsibilities include:











Work with existing Coaches and team management to plan the training
and coaching programme for the season.
Plan, prepare and deliver individual coaching sessions Monday and
Thursday evenings
Ensure that all sessions are designed to develop the skills and
understanding of the players in your squad.
Evaluate all coaching sessions and games with the coaching team and
players
Prepare, select, and supervise the 1st XV for Saturdays
Attend all matches involved with the Clubs senior squad.
Organisation of game day requirements (physios, equipment etc)
Work with the Club Development Officer, Youth Coaches and Youth
Committee to ensure player progression is properly managed and
implemented throughout the Club
Work with and advise current club coaches and players where
appropriate.
Clear communication and feedback to coaches, players and Club
Committee
Assist with player recruitment and retention
Report monthly to the Club’s Exec Committee.
