SMARTER THAN SMOKING ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS No Limits Division- 4 & 5 JUNE 2017 COMPETITION INFORMATION BACKGROUND Netball WA launched the No Limits division at the 2015 Smarter than Smoking Association Championships, with four competing teams. The carnival doubled in size in 2016 with 8 teams competing in the division with Fremantle All Abilities team taking back to back premierships. PURPOSE The No Limits Division forms part of the Smarter than Smoking Association Championships, which is a Netball WA pathway competition held annually to provide representative participation at all levels within an Association. The No Limits division provides an opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to participate in a competitive environment that promotes social inclusion and participation. VENUE In 2017 the Wembley Sports Park, inclusive of the Perth Netball Association and the State Netball Centre, will again host the Smarter than Smoking Association Championships. The street address is 200 Selby Street, Jolimont, Western Australia. ELIGIBILITY The No Limits Division is open for both males and females with an intellectual disability born in 2005 and before. SUBSIDSIES In 2017, there are a range of subsidies available to assist teams in attending the carnival. All figures mentioned are GST inclusive. All teams will receive a catering subsidy; Metropolitan teams $200 per team and Regional teams $300 per team. Where appropriate, teams can apply for a travel subsidy; Metropolitan teams $200 per team and Regional teams $300 Regional teams can apply for an accommodation subsidy, $700 per team. To apply for a subsidy please tick the appropriate boxes on the team registration form. CHECK IN ON ARRIVAL One official from each team must check in at the Event Office (location to be confirmed) upon arrival to collect fixture books, score cards and any other information. LUNCH ORDERS Netball WA will be providing a lunch order service during the 2017 Smarter than Smoking Association Championships. Information regarding lunch orders will be sent out at a later date. CAR PARKING & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT Netball WA and Perth Netball Association are working with the Town of Cambridge to develop a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan to ensure the safe and effective movement of all participants and spectators from cars and buses to and from the venue. There are a limited number of car parking spaces available on site, however large buses and coaches WILL NOT be permitted to park in this area. Therefore, an overflow car parking area for these larger and other vehicles has been identified at Perry Lakes/Garden Week site (opposite Rugby WA, Basketball WA). All metropolitan teams are encouraged to use alternative transport or car pool to assist with car parking demand. Additional information regarding how the parking and traffic management arrangements will operate will be provided in the coming weeks. OFFICIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MATCH BALL Gilbert is the official supplier of the match balls for the 2017 Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships. Each team will be provided with a Smarter Than Smoking branded Gilbert match ball for use during the Championships. In addition, an order form for additional training and match balls, and other Netball WA coaching and umpiring resources, will be distributed ahead of the event. DURATION OF GAMES All games shall consist of two 15-minute halves, with a three-minute interval between the two halves. INJURY TIME Injury time applies as per Official Rule Book page 46: The player concerned must leave the court within 30 seconds and receive any treatment off the court. SCORE CARD The first-mentioned team shall provide the score card (as supplied) and a scorer for each game. The second-mentioned team shall provide the timekeeper and timer. These two officials should stand together (opposite the centre circle on the side line) throughout the match and compare scores and time to avoid any discrepancies. For records and insurance purposes, the names of participating players must be recorded on each scorecard. The winning team is to return the scorecard to the score box near the Event Office immediately after each game. Please collect official score card from the Event Office for finals. POINTS Two points shall be recorded for a win and one point for a draw. Should one or more teams finish the qualifying rounds of the carnival with equal points, each team’s goals scored will be divided by the goals scored against that team to determine final positions. FINALS In the event of a draw in a finals game, there shall be a one-minute break, during which the umpires shall confirm with the scorer that the game is a draw. Netball WA Match/Event Office is to be immediately advised of any drawn Finals games. Teams shall remain in their positions while the scorecard is checked. Positional changes may not be made at this time. The game shall recommence with the centre pass being taken by the team due to take the centre pass and the game shall proceed until one team has scored a two-goal advantage. The winning teams are asked to assemble on court 3 ready to march onto court 1, with other teams and spectators positioned in the various grandstands. FIRST AID/PHYSIOTHERAPY These services will be available on the ground both the State Netball Centre and Perth Netball Association. SUN PROTECTION A supply of sun protection will be available from the Event Office at Perth Netball Association. Teams and Associations are also encouraged to bring their own supply of sunscreen. PHOTOGRAPHY All teams must ensure parents of the underage teams and players in open teams are aware that Netball WA will be taking photos during the course of the competition as stated on the Team Registration form. Please utilise the below waiver in your registration/selection process of your teams – “I hereby state that all registered players or their parents/guardians have provided (Association name) written permission for Netball WA to use photographs of themselves for its promotional and publicity purposes. These may include print and electronic media. Advertisements, displays, posters, brochures, magazines, newsletters, publications and Internet use.
