We dedicate this book to
Mrs. Leathers for teaching us
how to make haikus, and
Ms. Mary Lou for helping us
make our collages.
If we didn’t have Mrs. Leathers
we would have no idea how to
write haikus, and it would be
impossible to make collages without
Ms. Mary Lou’s help.
Thank you for helping us make
this!!!!!!!!!
Process
We started this project with learning how
to make haikus. Once we could make haikus,
we made a list of things that happened in
our lives. Then we chose one event and got a
piece of paper. It had six boxes to draw in. We
drew six steps of this event. After that we made
a haiku for each picture. In art we made
collages of ourselves doing the event. First we
traced a template for our head. Then we cut
it out and added eyes, a nose and a mouth.
After that we cut out a neck, shirt or dress
and arms. Then we made pants, legs and
shoes. It was hard getting the perfect size
shoe. Finally we got to add accessories like
what we would be holding. Then we chose
paper to put our collage on. In the classroom
we typed up our haikus. It was difficult
finding a font we liked and the perfect size so
all the words could fit on one sheet of paper
but we did it. Then we had to glue our haikus
and collages on a big black sheet of paper.

Was outside playing with Drew
I was so surprised
Went into the house

Mom
This is my first tooth
It was getting dark
Put tooth under my pillow
Time to go to sleep
It was morning time
Oh my, where did my tooth go?

So who put it there?
So I ran to mom
