TECHNICAL RULES & REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO THIS EVENT
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE APPLICABLE AS OF 2014:
As per the directive of the SAGF CEO and the Board, please note the following:

National Championships payment & entries will be via Provinces only
Gymnast are entered by and represent their provinces
No regional uniforms – tracksuits / leotards / t shirts etc. permitted.
Uniforms worn at the National Championships may be PROVINCIAL uniforms only.
Judges allocations as requested will be per Province
TECHNICAL INFORMATION AS PER FIG CODE WHERE APPICABLE
& SAGF CODE 2013 CURRENT VERSION.
QUALIFICATION FOR NATIONAL CHAMPS 2014
1) Compete and qualify via your Provincial qualification event
2) Level 7 – 10 Achieve a minimum of 7.00 E Score average.
3) Senior & Junior Olympic – participation in a full Provincial Qualifying event
4) Class 3: 48.0 out of 60. Class 4 & 5: 44.0 out of 60 AT A Provincial qualifying event
Notes:
1) The National Gym Games is the selection event for the following:
a) Zone 6
 Level 7 12 & Under (But not 10& U) - up to 4 gymnasts will be selected
 Level 8 13 & Over – up to 3 gymnasts will be selected
No team announcements will be made following the events. All team selection is subject to ratification of the
SAGF Board, and therefore selected gymnasts will be notified in a circular, via their regions / provinces.
b) Trials for World Champs

2) PODIUM TRAINING:
For Class 5, Levels 10, Junior and Senior Olympic Levels only
THURSDAY 10th July : 14.00 – 15.30
Gymnasts must be properly attired in leotards and respect the time and grouping allocations as notified.
Warm up and rotations will be controlled.
Ilse Laing will be the person in charge of the WAG Podium Training.

IN ADDITION : Judges who have not been nominated by their regions / Province are invited to judge –
please advise if you are available, in order that other Provinces may approach you as proxy judges

Uniform:
Licenses:
Judges must comply with the regulations as stipulated in the SA Judges Code, Black or
Navy. Jackets required.
Judges are required to hand in their licenses at their respective meetings. These will be
validated at the judges meeting.
4) GYMNASTS:
For the purpose of March-on and Prize Giving Ceremonies, all Gymnasts must be dressed in FULL
Provincial Tracksuits.
Bare feet, socks or sports shoes should be worn at prize-giving. (Not slippers or Ugg boots)
Gymnasts wearing long sleeved leotards must remain fully dressed and may not display hanging sleeves
from under their tracksuits. Coaches please bring this to the attention of the gymnasts
When gymnasts rotate to their next apparatus & present to the judges table, they must be in their leotards.
5) MUSIC:
Instructions for handing in music : Please hand this in a the podium training.
 Gymnasts must have their own individual CD with only their floor music on the CD
 The music must be the 1st track on the CD.
 No special instructions such as loud / soft / fade.
 Clearly mark the on the CD and cover:
o Gymnasts Name
o Region / Province:
o Level & Age Group
 Coaches / gymnasts are required to have at least one additional copy of their music
on CD available at the event.
 Collection of CD’s at the end of the competition is the responsibility of the Coach.
6) COACHES NOTES & INFORMATION:
DRESS
Team and Personal Coaches must be attired in their full Provincial tracksuits and Team Shirt and with sport
shoes when on the floor during competition.
South African team or Club attire may not be worn by either gymnasts or coaches during the competition.
No South African emblems (Flag / Protea / RSA signage ) may be displayed on leotards, bags, or tracksuits
in the competition arena, during training, competition or award ceremonies.
NUMBERS OF COACHES PERMITTED
Levels 7-8 : 1 Coach per club per level per age group.
Level 9 &10, Class 5 + Junior & Senior Olympic: Individual coaches permitted – no more than 1 per
gymnasts in the competition area.
Additional Coaches will be allowed to assist with warm-up and apparatus warm-up, but must vacate the
Floor area prior to the start of the competition.
Personal coaches in are reminded that they are to be dressed in Provincial attire.
Coaches may assist gymnasts as permitted in the FIG code of Points.
COACHES QUALIFICATION
Coaches for Level 7 and higher must have SAGF Level 2 qualification or higher.
7) MEALS / REFRESHMENTS
Active judges, WAG PM & appointed competition personnel only will have meals provided in the officials /
judges area. (Lunch Friday & Sat)
Coaches will be permitted access to a separate tea / coffee station for the event. Lunch meal vouchers
for the tuck shop (or a separate area from the judges ) will be provided for the following numbers of
coaches per day per Province Provinces follows:

8) CELLULAR PHONES
Judges and Coaches: Please do not make or receive calls or text messages whilst in the competition area
as this will be viewed as unsportsmanlike conduct. Officials are asked to keep their phones switched off
during the competition and in the competition area.
9) APPEALS:
Coaches wishing to submit appeals with reference to D Score should do so on the official appeal form which
can be obtained from the Competition Manager before the conclusion of the gymnasts rotation.
As per code of points, appeals must be submitted to the Director of Judging and signed by the Team
Manage. Principles for submitting appeals are as per the FIG and SAGF Code of Points.

COMPETITION JURY:
Superior Jury :
Paddy Chadwick (Director of Judging ), WAG PM Member not involved with the incident, 1 SAGF Board
member present at the time of any inquiry / incident. If an SAGF Board member is not available, a
competent person from the local Province not involved with competition as a coach / judge or active
official, will be appointed.
Judges Panels:
D1 & D2 Judges will be appointed from those nominated by their Provinces.
10) APPARATUS:

SPRINGBOARDS :
An assortment of Gymnova/ Speith & Gimtrac
All apparatus and Technical Regulations will be handled according the guidelines set out in the Levels
Manuals and also the FIG Handbook of Apparatus Norms.
While every precaution is taken to provide the correct FIG spec apparatus, WAG PM advise that there will
be permitted variances and tolerances in the height of mats and apparatus.
Once the apparatus is set, mats and boards may not be moved or swapped between apparatus.
The height of apparatus / vaulting mats may not be altered unless permission has been granted by the
Directors of Judging and the Competition Managers.
11) SEATING
Competitors must comply with seating arrangements as instructed by the organisers. For presentation to the
D1’s table, gymnasts must be dressed in their leotards. Please keep the seating area tidy with all clothing
and shoes kept in a gym bag. Gymnasts are to clear the area of used tape/ water and drink bottles at every
rotation. Coaches are requested to supervise thus aspect of keeping the competition area neat and
presentable.
12) TEAM MANAGERS:

Please collect Team envelopes with Programs, Registration sheets and other important competition
information from Hosts on Thursday 10th July 2014
13) RESULTS:
Results and Certificates of participation must be collected by Team Managers at the conclusion of the
competition. Full results will be emailed to the Provinces and will be uploaded onto the SAGF website.
14) FIRST AID & EMERGENCY CARE
This will be provided for the duration of the competition.









The WAG Program Management intends that the event should be presented in the best interest of the
safety and well being of the gymnasts. While every care will be taken to present a safe environment
for the gymnasts, much depends on the co-operation of the Coaches and the discipline of the
gymnasts.
