An exciting opportunity has arisen to initiate and develop an ambitious fundraising programme for one
of the leading football community trusts. You will lead and inspire a small team and will be
responsible for planning and implementing the charity’s fundraising strategy, focusing primarily on
individual donor fundraising, including donor recruitment, donor development, high net worth
individuals and legacies.
The charity is investing heavily in fundraising development and this is an ideal opportunity for an
experienced fundraiser to create and lead a fundraising department.

Main Purpose of Post:
The postholder will be responsible for the strategic development and management of all
fundraising for Charlton Athletic Community Trust. The key areas of focus will be:





Fundraising management and strategy development
Management of other fundraising and related staff
Major donor development
Development of legacy fundraising
As a member of the Senior Management Team, participation in the strategic and policy
development of Charlton Athletic Community Trust
Job Role:






To lead fundraising development for Charlton Athletic Community Trust
To develop and implement the organisation’s fundraising strategy in conjunction with key
stakeholders
To initiate, develop and nurture relationships with funders and donors through structured and
personal networks with a view to securing long-term support
To raise the profile of Charlton Athletic Community Trust and awareness of its work
To communicate Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s work, vision, brand and messages to a
range of external audiences
To be a part of the Senior Management Team, assisting the Chief Executive Officer in
making strategic decisions
Duties and Responsibilities:














To review and develop the organisation’s fundraising strategy and grow the organisation’s
funding base
To create and implement practical fundraising plans, based on the fundraising strategy for
the long term
To manage the fundraising team and support them to maximise income from individual
donors and grant-making trusts
In conjunction with key stakeholders, to develop the organisation’s key messages and case
for support
To undertake in-depth research to add to the research base in relation to high net worth
individuals
To develop individual cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship plans for
potential major donors
To work with the Trustees, supporting them in relationship development, donor cultivation,
solicitation and stewardship
To identify, organise and participate in cultivation events that help develop potential and
actual donor loyalty, interest and trust in Charlton Athletic Community Trust
To maintain and develop high level contracts
To develop and ensure the implementation of a first class donor and funder care programme
To promote legacy and in memoriam giving to support Charlton Athletic Community Trust
To work within the law and codes of practice issued by the Institute of Fundraising and
Fundraising Regulator
To line mange the Fundraising Officer, Marketing and Communications Manager, Bid Writer
and Impact and Evaluation Officer
