How to Connect an Xbox 360 to UCO`s Wireless Network The first

How to Connect an Xbox 360 to UCO’s Wireless Network
The first thing we will need is the MAC address of your Xbox 360. A MAC address is the
physical address of your device. Here is how you will find your MAC address:
1. When you first turn on your Xbox you
will see a screen like this. You will need
to scroll to the Settings menu on the
upper right hand side.
2. Once you are on the settings page, you
will need to select System.
3. Once we are on the System Settings page, we
will need to pick Network Settings.
4. This next screen will show all of the available
wireless networks in range of your Xbox. You may
need to give your system a few moments to detect
all of the networks. We need to choose the UCO
wireless network.
5. You will be warned that you are connecting to
an unsecured wireless network. Choose Yes to
continue.
6. You will get a notification that there are
multiple networks with the same name. This is
acceptable so go ahead and click OK.
7. This next step is asking you to test your
network. This step will fail, but go ahead and
tell it Yes here.
8. This is the fail message you will get after
testing your network. Select Cancel.
9. On this next screen you will need to
select Configure Network.
10. On the Configure Network screen
you will see a bunch of
information on two tabs. We need
to select the Additional Settings
tab.
11. On the Additional Settings tab we
need to select the section titled
Advanced Settings, which is
outlined in Red.
12. On the Advanced Settings page we
will see what we are looking for,
the MAC Address. Please copy
this number down accurately and
provide it to the UCO Service
Desk.
You can contact the Service Desk at 405.974.2255 or email them at
[email protected].
How to check if you are on the UCO Wireless Network
Once you have provided your MAC Address to the UCO Service Desk, please allow up to 48
hours for your device to be added to the network. You will know your device has been added
when you receive an email notification stating your Service Desk Ticket has been closed.
Once you receive this notification, you can check to see if your device can access the
wireless network by following these steps:
1. Follow the previous steps up to step
9, where you will see an option to
Test Network. This picture says
“Restart Test” but the option you
want will be in the same location.
2. During the test your Xbox will check
to see if it has access to the network,
access to the internet, and finally it
will check for access to Xbox Live.
3. When the test is complete, and if you
are connected to the UCO wireless
network, you will get a Connection
Warning. You can go ahead and
Cancel out of this menu as your
Xbox now has access to the wireless
network.
NAT ERROR: “Because of a setting on your router or modem, your NAT type is strict.
This may cause problems with multiplayer games and chat”
What does this mean?
NAT stands for “Network Address Translation” and it allows a large number of internal network
IP addresses to use a small number of external internet IP address. This is what allows a large
number of computers on a network to communicate with the internet at the same time. Microsoft
limits the number of simultaneous connections from the same IP address, so if there are a large
number of people playing on the Xbox Live Network at the same time, some people will not be
able to access the Xbox Live Network. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do other than to
keep trying to connect at a less busy “game time”.
