LEXINGTON, Ky. - Louisiana continued their winning
streak in Rupp arena this morning with a victory over
Team Kentucky, 71-54. Team Louisiana came out flat
footed, but once they had adjusted to the different
court, they ran away with the game. Team Louisiana
got an extra hour of sleep this morning with their
bye, and that is something that will make a huge impact on their game play today.
Team Louisiana came out this morning with “not
much effort,” says Chuck Whitman. Whitman, who
just joined the team this morning because of a prior
engagement, had 19 points, and seven rebounds.
Whitman played with heart and hustle today, and
seemed to be having the time of his life out there.
John Comly also returned to the court today, going
100% from the field on his one attempt.
Other impact players include Ric Elias, who put up a
double-double with 12 rebounds and 15 points, Peter
Smul with four rebounds and five points, and Chris
Arington with five assists and 20 points. Arington
that “not playing this morning was really the difference,” when it came to who controlled the tempo of
the first half. Once the team meshed together and
got loose on the court though, the control fell into
the hands of Team Louisiana, who dominated the last
ten minutes of the second half.
Team Louisiana has time to get ready for their next
game and Coach Anderson knows exactly what to do
to keep the men on their winning streak.
“Our offense looks sharp, but our defense has to stop
people,” Coach Anderson said after the win.
The team looks to keep their defense sharp, and
believes that is what will give them that extra edge
they need to come out wearing Armani suits. They
will tip off in the Fantasy championship against the
winner of the Missouri v. Minnesota game at 1 p.m.
