SUMMER HOLIDAY HOME WORK (INTERDISCIPLINARY)
CLASS- II
SESSION: 2017-18
Summer vacation is synonymous with fun, frolic, getting up late in the morning, playing for longer hours with
friends, going for picnics, exploring and visiting new and interesting places and watching your favourite shows
on television. There is a lot more you can do to make your vacations more interesting, meaningful and full of
fun.
Dear parents
Holidays are time when you can connect with your child in many ways. As you is your child’s first and most
important teacher. You can encourage your child’s love of learning by participating in educational activities at
home. Working together will help your child build confidence. We have designed our holiday homework
keeping in view that, this year has been declared as the International year of Tours and Travels. We always try
our level best to upgrade the knowledge of our children by using interdisciplinary approach. We have included
the theme in each subject.
Here are few guidelines –





Make your ward revise all the work that is done till now of each and every subject in school.
Holiday homework is to be done in only three in one note book.
Please take care of the neatness of the work.
Please make sure that your child completes his/her holiday homework.
Let’s have fun and work together during the summer break.
 Take the child for morning walk, talk about things you see around with them.
 Encourage your child to take up yoga or any others form of healthy activity during the vacation.
 Play games like ludo, carom board, scrabble, chess, atlas etc. with them, play some outdoor games like
badminton, cricket, catch, go cycling etc. anything that make them run.
 To make them aware of their surroundings tell them to watch various informative T.V. Channels like: Discovery
Channel, National Geographic Channel, History Channel and Animal Planet.
 Let your child help around the house doing small jobs like setting and cleaning the table, watering the plants,
filling up the empty water bottles dusting or feeding a pet etc.
 Give them practice of tying shoe laces.
 Revitalize your energy, eat fruits and salads to stay healthy, drink plenty of water to ward off the heat.
 A legible hand is a mirror to every child’s personality. So, beautify your ward’s hand writing. Make them write
10 pages of Hindi and 10 pages in English in a separate note book.
 Spend some time with your child by simply making normal conversation to enhance the bond between you and
your child. Converse with your child in English and develop a habit of speaking proper sentences.
 Cultivate manners in them. Remember the four magic words-Please, Sorry, Thank you and Excuse me. Make
these a part of you and your child’s personality.

from them and frame sentences with them in your holiday homework note book.

To add fun and make your vacations interesting, we have prepared few fun filled activities for your summer vacations.
June 5 World Environment Day
The whole world observes World Environment Day on 5th June every year. We should preserve this environment by
saving electricity, water, trees etc. grow more and more plants in your surroundings.
Father’s Day – June 18 (3rd Sunday of June)
Celebrate Father’s day by making a beautiful card for your father and writing a lovely note in it. You can also surprise
him by making sandwiches and lemonade in the breakfast for him with the help of your mother.
Best Friend’s Day – June 8
Give a call to your friend on Best Friend’s day (8th June) and wish him/her.

Terracotta Birdbath Activity
A fresh clean water is hardly available for birds to come by in summers.That’s why BIRDBATH is a great device for
attracting all kinds of species, such as spparows, parrot,pigeon,robins. Here is one that couldn’t be simpler to be
placed in your garden or balcony.
How to do this activity- Use a wide mouthed terracotta bowl or mud bowl and fill it with water and put another small
bowl to put seeds. Different birds will comeby to satisfy their hunger and thirst.(Change the water in the bowl daily).
Celebration time
Design your birthday invitation card with a warm invitation quote. Mention your birthday date, time and venue.
NOTE 
Do not get the holidays’ Homework done by the parents. It must be the effort of the child. Parents
must act as guides and facilitators but not substitutes to do the work.
 The homework must be done systematically. It should be seen as an interesting activity that helps in
mental development of the child.
 Holiday homework will be assessed in the form of Evaluation-1. It carries 5 marks in each subject.
