Introduction
Travel management today
_ An important part of an agent's workload
Travel management activities constitute
up to half of the daily travel agent workload
_ Manual "quotes"
An important part of travel management is the
manual handling of "quotes" to be proposed and
shared with the traveller in a cross-channel context
_ Contractual agreements
Business and leisure agents can be contractually
bound to propose alternatives to created bookings.
_ Existing solutions
Current available solutions are rarely synchronised,
involve a heavy manual workload and can have
undesirable side effects for providers

Questions
FAQ — Frequently asked questions 1/4
What information is contained in an offer?
Offers are created by travel agents and contain all the necessary
information to enable a traveller to decide which trip proposal they want
to accept before a firm booking is made.
An air offer can contain up to 12 air segments and a price record,
showing the pricing options, fare conditions and amount.
A hotel offer contains rooms of the same type in a property, with dates,
a price record for these rooms (including price indicators, ie. tax
included, commission, guarantee) and all information available in the
pricing details of the rate.

FAQ — Frequently asked questions 2/4
In what circumstances would a traveller receive an offer?
Offer creation covers a wide range of use cases happening before
booking (and even after). Here are a few examples:
_ Leisure agent pushing promotions to traveller (with or without
request from traveller)
_ Corporate agent pushing travel alternatives (with or without a
booking to traveller)
_ Cross-sell, such as pushing hotel Offers when a flight is booked
_ Travel agent up-selling ("here is an Offer for a flight which is only a
little bit more expensive, but much more comfortable")
_ Travel agent providing visibility on price range for a given trip.

FAQ — Frequently asked questions 3/4
Why are Offers not guaranteed?
Most airlines prohibit certain GDS booking practices that increase their
GDS distribution costs or negatively impact their inventory control
programmes. Carriers are actively debiting agencies for the following
practices:
_
_
creating duplicate, fictitious or speculative bookings
churning reservations (repeatedly rebooking and cancelling
segments)
_
use of billable passive segments
_
failure to cancel unused inventory
By keeping Offers from impacting airlines’ inventory systems in the prebooking phase, Amadeus Offers protects travel agencies from putting
themselves at risk from debit notes.

FAQ — Frequently asked questions 4/4
What training is needed to use Amadeus Offers?
Amadeus Offers has been designed to be as intuitive and user-friendly
as possible, and is seamlessly integrated into existing booking
processes, so extensive training is not needed.
Experience with pilots globally has shown that on average an agent
takes 45 minutes to be functional on the product and an additional
45 minutes to become proficient.
