Canadian Milos Raonic
caught a break Friday at the
French Open as he needed less
than a half hour to complete a
third-round victory over
Spain’s Guillermo GarciaLopez.
Raonic, the No. 5 seed from
Thornhill, Ont., advanced
when Garcia-Lopez retired
from the match due to a left
thigh injury. The Canadian,
who was leading 6-1, 1-0 at the
time, said he can use the extra
rest.
“I’ll take it when I can have
it,” Raonic said. “I’ve played a
lot over the last weeks. I’m
playing well. I’m happy with
the way I was able to start
today. I think I’ve made good
progress and I’m getting better
and better each match.
“Now I’m just looking forward to playing in two days.”
Garcia-Lopez needed treatment at the end of the first set.
Raonic had a 12-2 edge in winners and recorded five aces
over the 28-minute contest.
Next up for the Canadian is
a fourth-round match against
20th-seeded Pablo Carreno
Busta of Spain, a 7-5, 6-3, 6-4
winner over Bulgaria’s Grigor
Dimitrov.
“I watched a bit of his
match today, he’s playing
well,” Raonic said. “He’s
improved a lot over the last 16
months or so. I played him a
few times toward the end of
last year. He’s very solid, he’s
disciplined, he shows up and
he’s there and he doesn’t exit
the match, you really have to
beat him.
“You have to take it to him.
So it’s going to be about trying
to get control and trying to
hold on to it throughout the
match.”
Raonic did not drop a set in
their three previous head-tohead meetings. He won on
grass at Wimbledon last year
and beat him twice on hardcourts later in the season.
Raonic is making his sixth
career appearance at Roland

Djokovic has a rough
day advancing
From a tiff with the chair
umpire to the big deficit he
created and then needed to
overcome in a steady rain,
Novak Djokovic had an allaround difficult day at the
French Open.
Rafael Nadal’s journey to
the fourth round, in contrast,
could hardly have been easier.
Indeed, his 100th best-of-fiveset match on clay was also the
most lopsided.
The stark numbers on the
scoreboards at Court Philippe
Chatrier revealed plenty about
how differently things went in
the back-to-back contests
Friday for defending champion Djokovic and nine-time
champion Nadal. First up in
the main stadium at Roland
Garros was Nadal, who won 82
points and conceded merely

over 63rd-ranked Nikoloz
Basilashvili.
“The score is quite embarrassing, you know,” Basilashvili
acknowledged, “but I have to
accept it.”
Djokovic followed in the
main stadium and found himself in quite a bit of trouble
right away against 41st-ranked
Diego Schwartzman before
emerging to win 5-7, 6-3, 3-6,
6-1, 6-1.
While it took Basilashvili 12
games and 49 minutes just to
claim a single game — which
spectators greeted with a roar
as he stood motionless and
straight-faced — Schwartzman
not only took the second game
of his match against Djokovic,
he grabbed the opening set,
too. And then the third, to go
up by two sets to one.
Schwartzman played well
during that stretch, to be sure,
but the No. 2-seeded
Djokovic’s biggest problem
was himself.

In some areas of the City during these flushing operations, there
may be some discoloration in the water which is not harmful to
consume and will disappear when flushing is complete. Please
note that discolored water should not be used for laundry and
fluctuating water pressure may also be noticed.
Should discoloration persist beyond three hours, turn on your
cold water tap and let the water run for 5-20 minutes or until
the water runs clear.

DUBLIN, Ohio
Jason Dufner wanted to put together more
than just a few good rounds this week at the
Memorial.
The first two put him in the record book.
Dufner holed out from 176 yards on the 18th
hole for an eagle, and then added three more
birdies on the front nine at Muirfield Village for
another 7-under 65, giving him the 36-hole
scoring record at the Memorial and a five-shot
lead going into the weekend.
He was at 14-under 130, one shot better than
the record previously held by Rickie Fowler
(2010) and Scott Hoch (1987). Neither wound
up winning the tournament.
Daniel Summerhays made bogey on his last
hole and shot 69 to finish five shots behind
Dufner. Fowler (66) was another shot behind.
Jordan Spieth was one shot out of the lead
after the opening round. He already was eight
shots back when he teed off, and all he managed was a 72. Spieth and Justin Thomas (71)
were tied for fourth and eight shots behind.
“Duf is obviously in full control of the ball tee
to green, and you’ve got to be making some
putts, too,” Spieth said. “He had two fantastic
days. He’s a major champion and a multiple
PGA Tour winner, he’s going to be a tough guy to
chase down. But again, playing with the lead on
this golf course I imagine is going to be difficult.”
Nordqvist leads
GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J.
Anna Nordqvist knows how to get around
Stockton Seaview — and likes the view from
atop the ShopRite LPGA Classic leaderboard.
The two-time defending champion shot a 7under 64 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead
after the first round of the 54-hole event near
Atlantic City.
“It just really fits my eye,” Nordqvist said. “I
have so many good memories here, obviously. It
almost feels like home now with a lot of supporters and a lot of friends here.”
She’s trying to join fellow Swede Annika
Sorenstam as the only three-time winner.
“I feel like I enjoy this place, but at the same
time, I don’t feel like I have anything to prove
here,” Nordqvist said. “I am just trying to take it
day-by-day. I’ve been playing good for a long
time now, so just tying get everything to click at
once. Happy with my start and looking forward
to the rest.”
Going Green Charge
Customers also have a “Going Green” surcharge on their bill. This
surcharge is for renewable energy purchased for residential, farm, small
and medium commercial customers.
The Going Green surcharge is calculated monthly to recover costs
incurred to purchase renewable energy.
The Going Green surcharge for June is $0.0050 per kilowatt hour.
