• topic sentence = a sentence expresses the main idea or main
point of this essay
= what you are going to discuss in this essay
• topic sentence should be placed as The 1ST (or the 2nd )
sentence in the introduction (in the essay).

CONCLUDING SENTNECE
• concluding sentence = a sentence summarizes the essay and
provides a final thought on the topic
= use different ways/other words to say what you have
already discussed in the essay
• concluding sentence should be placed as the LAST sentence
in the essay (or the 1st sentence in the conclusion)
