2017
Academic Achievement Award - $300
To a graduating senior who is an outstanding member of the senior class
and is planning to further his/her education, but is not currently enrolled in college
preparatory courses. This award is sponsored by the National Honor Society.

Amvets Auxiliary Charles H. Lane Post #1977 Scholarship - $200
To a female graduating senior who shows patriotism, a desire to do her
best, and a concern for others.

Scott Andrews Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior, who has been in attendance at Stoughton High
School for a minimum of two full years and is in need of financial assistance to
continue in music education beyond high school.

William A. Batte, Sr. and Family Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior student-athlete who has attended Stoughton High
School for four years and has been accepted to any two or four year college or
university. Preference will be given to those in need of financial aid.

The Roy H. Beaton Endowment Fund (2) - $10,000; (20) $1,000
The Roy H. Beaton Endowment fund was established in 2008 as an
endowment fund to provide financial assistance to Stoughton High School
students for post-secondary education. The scholarship(s) will be awarded to
students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher with good moral
character and participation in extra-curricular activities. The awards shall be
made to students who demonstrate financial need in accordance with federal
guidelines. This award is solely sponsored by the Roy H. Beaton Endowment
Fund.

Anita Sarah Brennan Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who attended the West Elementary School for a
minimum of three full years and has been accepted to an accredited institution of
higher learning. The student shares a love of reading, has overcome early
academic challenges and has grown steadily through their career.

Timothy E. Bulger Memorial Scholarship (2) - $1,000
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SHS student who
attended the Joseph H. Gibbons Elementary School and who has also spent time
volunteering in the Stoughton community. Applicants should provide a list of
their volunteer activities.

James A. Callanan Memorial Music Scholarship - $250
To a graduating senior who has been an active member of the marching
band for at least three years and demonstrated a dedication to further the
continued excellence of the marching band. He/she shall further his/her
education at a two or four year college not necessarily in the field of music.

Adele Caron Scholarship - $1,000
To a graduating female senior of Lithuanian or Russian descent,
who would be interested in pursuing a field in women’s apparel or design, or any
deserving female student if no one met these qualifications.

The Christianson Music Scholarship in Honor of Ronald R. Christianson,
Jr. - $500
To a graduating senior who is a three year participant in the Stoughton
High School Music Department, who will be a full time undergraduate college
freshman pursuing a career in music education or music performance. The
recipient must exhibit a dedicated talent as a performer, with strong leadership
qualities, personal integrity, moral character, good academic record and
demonstrates financial need.

Club Luis De Camoes Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who is the son/daughter of a club member of at
least two years, with a GPA of 3.00 or better, ranked in the top 50% of the class
and active in school/community activities. The student must attend a two or four
year institution after graduation. A three-paragraph essay is required, answering
one of three questions on the scholarship application.

Diana Beth Cooper Memorial Scholarship (2) - $300
To a graduating senior who intends to further their education at a school of
higher learning. Scholarships will be awarded to students who best exemplify the
following characteristics: love, honesty, compassion, and friendship.

Francis T. "Mike" and Helen M. Crimmins Memorial Scholarship (2) - $500
To an outstanding graduating senior who exemplifies leadership qualities,
strong moral character, and integrity. The deserving student must have attended
Stoughton High School for a minimum of three years, shown academic
achievement and have been active in extra-curricular activities and community
service in the town of Stoughton. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees or
texts at a four year accredited institution of higher learning.

Damon Lodge #12 Knights of Pythias Scholarship - $300
To a graduating Stoughton High School senior who intends to attend
college or another type of educational institution of higher learning in the fall,
immediately following his/her graduation from Stoughton High. This student must
maintain a minimum of a “B+” average before graduation. The recipient must
send 1st semester grades to the sponsor to receive the scholarship.

To a graduating senior in social studies who demonstrates leadership
qualities outside the traditional school setting.

Scholarship
- In Memory of Bertha E. Landman - $500
To a graduating senior accepted at an institution of higher education who
attended the Joseph R. Dawe, Jr. Elementary School for a minimum of three
years, including grade five. The recipient should be ranked among the top 20%
of students in his/her class and should have demonstrated good citizenship and
academic excellence.
He/she should have participated in extracurricular
activities.

of students in his/her class and should have demonstrated good citizenship and
academic excellence.

activities.

To a graduating senior accepted at an institution of higher education who

years, including grade five. The recipient should be ranked among the top 20%
of students in his/her class and should have demonstrated good citizenship and
academic excellence.

DelSignore’s Law Scholarship for Success (1) - $1,000 (2) - $500
To a graduating senior who has been accepted to a college or university.
The student must have a 3.0 GPA or have made significant improvement in
grades in their junior or senior year. A brief typed essay is required: “Please
describe any significant adversities you have overcome and the achievements
you have accomplished despite these adversities. Please include any details
that show how the way you have dealt with adversity can be an inspiration for
other students. Adversities may include but are not limited to medical conditions,
family troubles or encounters with the law.”

Bob DiMatteo Memorial Scholarship (2) - $500
To a graduating senior who wishes to pursue an education in business.
The student should have been active in school or community activities. Strong
consideration will be given to those born and raised in Stoughton who attended
Stoughton Public Schools. This student must exemplify compassion, leadership,
humor and selflessness.

John L. Donnelly, Jr. Memorial Scholarship - $250
To a graduating senior who has exhibited excellence in the classroom and
who has participated in athletics at the varsity level. This scholarship is to be
used for tuition purposes in a four-year program. This award should not be
available to a student receiving other scholarships.

Arthur L. Donovan Scholarship - $200
To a graduating senior of outstanding character and citizenship who
shows a spirit of civic-mindedness. The award will be used for tuition purposes.

Elite Health & Fitness Scholarship - $1,000
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SHS student who has
shown community service and a commitment to his/her future in the field of
Military or Physical Education. Applicants should provide a list of their volunteer
activities.

The Peter Everett Scholarship - In Memory of Donnie Coleman - $300
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who graduated
from the Gibbons School and must enroll in a Massachusetts Community College
(first preference will be given to Massasoit). All criteria being equal, the lowest
ranking class member is to receive this scholarship. Verification of tuition
payment required. This may be used in either semester or the academic year
following graduation. If not used within this time frame, the scholarship will be
forfeited.

Kenneth C. Fine Memorial Scholarship - $250
To an outstanding graduating senior with good moral character and
integrity who exhibits an interest in pursuing a career in the medical sciences. If
there is no such student, then any deserving student.

I.J. Fisher Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who is majoring in Early Childhood or Special
Needs in a four year accredited program.

James H. Fowler Memorial Scholarship - $1,000
To a graduating senior who will attend college and major in a public
service career (education, criminal justice, nursing, political science) with
preference to students who are not the recipient of any other scholarships.

Friends of Stoughton Hockey Paul Rodriguez Scholarships (7) - $500
To graduating seniors who have played ice hockey at Stoughton High
School and wish to continue their education either at a college, trade school,
military service or other higher educational institution. Money to be distributed
after scholarship selection, student must provide the school with either a tuition
bill or receipts totaling scholarship amount for education-related expenses: ie:
laptop computer, books or other educational materials.
Criteria for scholarship:
• Must have played ice hockey for Stoughton High School for at least
two years.
• Must graduate having completed their senior year playing ice hockey
for Stoughton High School.
• Must have assisted and promoted the Friends of Stoughton Hockey
organization.

Gibbons School P.T.A. Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior of scholastic promise who attended the Gibbons
School for at least three years. The recipient must have been accepted at an
institution of higher learning and be encouraged to continue education by virtue
of the financial assistance rendered by this award.

Jen Gitto Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who has demonstrated significant community
service in helping children or the elderly, who has been a positive influence on
the graduating class, and who has been accepted into a four year accredited
college program. Preference will be given to a person who will continue to
provide care and service to the young or elderly in their career choice.

Goddard Health Foundation (3) - $2,500
To graduating seniors who plan to continue their education in the health
care field. It is available to students who are enrolled in a public high school and
are residents of one of the following towns or city: Stoughton, Easton, West
Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Bridgewater, and Brockton. Each student must
be enrolled or have been accepted into a four-year degree or certificate program.
Each winner must be a person of good character, demonstrate a need, and also
have a well-balanced interest in studies and extracurricular activities.

Paul M. & Elizabeth A. Goulston Memorial Scholarship -$500
To a graduating senior who has attended Stoughton High School for at
least two years and who has indicated an interest in the field of medicine,
nursing, or pharmacology. The student
should have been active in school or community activities and not the recipient of
another scholarship of equal or greater value.

Gridiron Club Scholarship (2) - $300
To a graduating senior who has been a member of the football and/or
cheerleading program and has attended Stoughton High School for four years.
Student must have strong academic credentials and be attending a four year
college or university in the fall.

Helen Hansen P.T.O. Scholarship - $300
To a graduating senior going on to higher education who attended the
Helen Hansen Elementary School a minimum of three full years, including all of
grade 5. The recipient should be ranked among the top 75 students in his/her
class and should have demonstrated good citizenship and academic excellence.
He/she should have participated in extracurricular activities.

Hardy Insurance Agency Scholarship (2) - $250
To a graduating senior who has attended Stoughton High School for at
least two years and plans to attend a higher level of education and pursue a
career in business, the military or criminal justice.

James E. “Jake” Hoffman Memorial Scholarship (11) - $1,000
To a graduating senior who has been accepted to a four year college.
This student doesn’t have to be at their peak academically in high school but has
worked toward improving their future. The prospective recipient should submit
an essay entitled, “Committing Acts of Kindness.” The essay should be a 500
word typed essay. Please describe some selfless act you have committed that
has benefited someone else for the greater good during your high school career.
This scholarship is offered in memory of James E. “Jake” Hoffman a graduate of
the Class of 2009.

James E. “Jake” Hoffman Memorial Soccer Scholarship (2) - $1,000
To a graduating senior who played varsity soccer (one male and one
female). Each candidate should have proven leadership skills and also be a
team player. They should be kind, generous, and enthusiastic about the world
around them. The prospective recipient should submit a 500 word typed essay
entitled, “What key attributes have you developed playing high school soccer and
how will you apply these attributes in the life ahead of you?”

The Honey Dew Donuts Scholarship - $250
To a graduating senior who will attend an accredited four year college or
university, and/or maintain a B- average or better, and/or participate in local
community/charitable activities,
and/or demonstrate financial need, and/or meet the general requirements as
determined by the scholarship committee. Priority will be given to a Honey Dew
Donuts employee.

Paige Christina Jackman Scholarship (2) - $1,000
To a graduating senior who is pursuing a career in Special Education, or if
no one is going into the Special Education area, to a graduating senior entering
the field of Early Elementary Education.

Jake’s Way Back Burgers (3) – $200
To a graduating senior who has a 3.5 GPA or higher. The student must
have been accepted into an accredited college or university and enrolled in
Travel & Hospitality; Business Management or a Culinary Arts Program. The
student should have completed 40+ hours of community service. (A resume
listing what you have done for your community is to be included with the
scholarship application.)

Mary T. Kimtis Varsity Cheerleader Scholarship - $500
To be awarded to a senior varsity cheerleader who has completed four
academic years at Stoughton High School, and is not a recipient of other
academic awards. The recipient must be in good academic standing and
exemplify the qualities of Mary T. Kimtis in the manner of citizenship and good
moral living. She should be good natured and always willing to help others. She
should present an excellent image for Stoughton High School and plan to
continue her education after graduation.

The Charlotte King Memorial Scholarship (2) - $250
To be awarded to two deserving graduating seniors:
1. A student with a creative passion for art (a major in painting,
architecture, animation, etc.)
2. A scholastic achiever who seeks higher education in the field of
Science.
The family of Charlotte King will select the candidates with recommendations
from the Stoughton High School Administration. Both scholarships require a 150
to 200 word essay. Include what experience(s) that lead to your decision to
pursue Art/Science and what you plan to do beyond college.

Francis E. Maioli Memorial Scholarship -$700
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be
attending an institution of higher learning and pursuing a degree in education,
photography or media arts. The prospective recipient should submit a typed
essay answering one of the two following questions:
(1) Who or what influenced you to pursue your chosen path? Or (2) What are the
qualities a good driver should have?

Anne P. McCormick POPS Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a deserving graduate who intends to further their education at a two or
four year college. The candidate should have participated in the SHS Music
Program for at least three years and whose family has volunteered time to the
Music Department, supported the mission of the Parents of Performing Students
Organization, POPS.
Recipient: Caroline Tobin
McGowan Family Scholarship, in Memory of Karen McGowan - $750
To a graduating senior who will be attending the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst with an interest in liberal arts/communications or in
environmental studies. The graduate should be an outdoor enthusiast sensitive
to preserving the quality of our environment.

The Victor C. Melendy Foundation Scholarship (3) - $1,000
To a graduating senior who exemplifies courage, compassion, humor,
strength, selflessness and a willingness to help others. He/she must participate
in extracurricular activities, have attended Stoughton High School for 4 years,
and must be attending a 4 year college or university in the fall.

Catherine Marie Olson Memorial Scholarship - $300
To a graduating senior who has participated in the Chapter I or other
special needs program in the Stoughton schools. The recipient must have been
accepted by an accredited institution of higher learning. Preference will be given
to a student who attended the West Elementary School where Catherine Marie
was a long-time teacher’s aide.

Louise A. Packard Memorial Scholarship - $250
To a graduating senior female who has been active in athletics, shows
leadership qualities and has made contributions to the community.

The Parshley Team at WE Realty Group Scholarship - $300
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be
attending an institution of higher learning. The recipient must have been a
member of the SHS golf team for at least one season.

The Peace Partner Award (1) - $300 (1) - $200
The Peace Partner Award is planned as an annual gift to two seniors of
the SHS graduating class who apply in writing and who meet the following
criteria: Applicants should submit an essay (200 – 500 words) using specific
examples of how they best exemplify past and present involvement in and future
commitment to the pursuit of peace.
Recipients: (1) $300 – Stevens Bontemps; (1) $200 – Lindsey McGrath
Leokadia and Antonio Rafalko Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who has been accepted at an accredited institution
of higher learning, who ranks in the top 15% of the class, who shows leadership
qualities, good moral
character, and strong values, and who has displayed involvement in school and
community activities. Preference will be given to applicants of Polish heritage.

The Marissa Paige Ramos Scholarship (11) - $500
The scholarship is open to any graduating seniors of Stoughton High School
who wish to continue their education in either a college of their choice, trade
school, or other higher educational institute as well as joining the military. The
prospective recipient should submit a one to two paragraph essay answering the
question, “What magic have I brought to the community?”

Randolph Savings Bank Scholarship - $1,000
To a graduating senior who is deserving and will pursue a higher
education. The recipient will be selected based on a low to moderate income
status and is a student that falls within the top 5% of their graduating class.
Payment is made upon receipt of second semester bill and qualifying grades.

Shirley Reppucci Memorial Scholarship (2) - $500
To graduating seniors who will pursue higher education. These students
must have been active within the Music Department and must have
demonstrated exemplary service, dedication, and spirit to the music organization.
The recipients will be chosen by the Music Department. This scholarship is
sponsored by the Parents of Performing Students Inc.

Minna S. Richmond Awards (2) - $1,000
To graduating seniors who have achieved general academic excellence,
plan to continue in higher education, best exemplify the values of honesty,
compassion, citizenship and perform community service.

Elissa P. Selig Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who will be studying journalism or communication
in college.

The recipients of this scholarship must be members of the Shaloh House.

Richard Smith Memorial Scholarship - $150
To a graduating senior of scholastic promise who has been enrolled at Stoughton
High School for at least four years and is continuing education beyond high
school. Preference will be given to a student entering the field of environmental
studies.

Sons of Italy, Stoughton, In Memory of our Beloved Brothers and Sisters (3)
- $400
To a graduating senior of Italian descent who has attended Stoughton
High for at least three years, who ranks high in character, and who plans to
further his/her education. Preference will be given to the son or daughter of a
lodge member.

Detective John P. Sousa Memorial Scholarship - $300
To a graduating senior who is going on toward a degree in law
enforcement or criminal justice. In the event that no graduating senior qualifies
for the scholarship, it can be given to a graduate of Stoughton High School who
is currently earning a degree in law enforcement or criminal justice. The
scholarship is given by the Blue Knights, Inc., Massachusetts Chapter 1.

South School P.T.O. Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who has been accepted into a two or four year
program of continuing education. The recipient should be ranked in the top 100
of his/her class and have attended the South Elementary School for a minimum
of three years.

South Shore Bank Citizenship Award - $500
To a graduating senior who has displayed personal qualities of sincerity,
responsibility and conscientiousness; has demonstrated a commitment and
concern for community, and does not necessarily excel academically, but has
made the school a better place because he/she was part of it.

Nora and Elmer Southworth History Scholarship - $500
To the graduating senior who is the most proficient student in history by
vote of the teachers of history at Stoughton High School. He/she must be going
on to higher education.

Gary Stone Memorial Scholarship - $1,000
To a graduating senior who has been accepted to a four year institution of
higher education. Student must exhibit great school spirit, have a terrific work
ethic and a passion for sports. A one page essay is required.

Stoughton Association for Exceptional Citizens Scholarship - $250
To graduating seniors who are going on to higher education. Scholarship
is to be presented to one or more sons or daughters of S.A.E.C. members. In
the event that there is no student who meets this qualification, the scholarship
should go to one with a mental or physical challenge. If not possible, it may be
awarded to a student being served under Chapter 766. If none of the above
criteria can be met, then it may be presented to a student who plans to enter the
field of special education.

Stoughton Boosters Community Scholarship – (1) $800; (2) $250; (2) TBD
To a graduating senior who has demonstrated involvement in community
service, especially with the Stoughton Boosters Club for the purpose of
volunteering for the club itself (not as a volunteer for the Boosters for the purpose
of other fundraisers). The student must be accepted into an accredited college,
university or the Army. The student should have completed 40+ hours of
community service with the Stoughton Boosters. Please submit a resume style
list of what you have done with and for your community.

Stoughton Extended Day (7) - $250
To seven graduating seniors who intend to further their education in the child
care/education field. Preference will be given to individuals who have had
involvement and commitment to the Stoughton Extended Day Program.
Recipients: Leanne Cross, Meghan Eosco, Alexis Jackman, Ryan Kilday, Kayla
Oliveira, Shayla Shedin & Gia Williams
Stoughton High School Music Scholarships (2) - $500
To graduating seniors of excellence who have participated in the Music
Program of Stoughton High School for at least three years, preferably the last
three, and who plan to continue their education beyond high school. The
recipients of these awards are not restricted to the study of music and may use
the funds at any accredited institution of higher learning.

Stoughton High School Principal’s Award – $500
This scholarship will be awarded at the Principal's discretion to a
graduating senior that has demonstrated either exceptional growth or excellence
in character, service or academics. The Principal will confer with other
administrators, guidance counselors and faculty members to determine
recipients, but there is no application for these awards

Stoughton High School Student Council Scholarship – $1,000
To a graduating senior who has shown outstanding participation in a
variety of extra-curricular activities and who has shown potential for academic
success at an accredited institution of higher learning. Preference will be given to
members of Student Council.

a strong commitment to family, demonstrated community service, and academic

Stoughton High for at least two years and are in need of financial assistance to
continue their education. This award is in partnership with the Prone Family
Foundation.

Stoughton Media Access Corporation (SMAC) (2) - $500
Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior expecting to further
his/her education in the field of communications. Recipient must be accepted to
a 2 or 4 year college. Recipient must have been enrolled in one or more
television production classes at SHS or Stoughton Media Access. All applicants
should submit an essay of 500 words or less describing their experience in
television production and future plans in the field of communications.

To graduating seniors who intend to earn a degree in law enforcement or
criminal justice.

Stoughton Professional Administrative Employees Association (SPAEA) $500
To any Stoughton student who is active in the Stoughton Youth
Commission’s Advisory Council. Applicant will attend college or enroll in the
military. Student should regularly attend Youth Advisory Council Meetings and
participate in community service projects with the group. Extra curricular
activities away from school will also be considered in the decision making
process. A personal recommendation is also required.

School for at least two years and who have been accepted by an accredited
institution of higher learning.

Preference will be given to a student of good character who desires to
pursue a career in education and who demonstrates financial need. The student

Stoughton Youth Athletic Club (STOYAC) Board of Directors Scholarships
(10) - $500
Candidates for a STOYAC scholarship must be going on to post high school
education. Candidates must have volunteered their services and time to ensure
the continued success of the STOYAC organization and its programs. The
scholarship will be paid out in two installments (one each semester). Candidates
must submit a resume of their services rendered for consideration.

To graduating seniors who have played within the Stoughton Youth
Soccer League, and have volunteered their time and effort (refereeing, coaching,
etc.) to insure the continued success of the Stoughton Youth Soccer League
program. Multiple scholarships may be awarded per year. The graduating
student must be a resident of Stoughton, but need not be attending Stoughton
High School.
Candidates must include a detailed resume listing their
involvement with Stoughton Youth Soccer League. Candidates must be
attending an accredited two or four year college.
Dorothy F. Sweet, Class of 1943, Memorial Scholarship - $300
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SHS student who wishes
to major in Business, has attended Stoughton Public Schools and has
demonstrated community service and academic achievement. This scholarship
is to be used at a two or four year institution of higher learning

Lei Tang Scholarship - $500
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SHS student who has a
C+ or higher grade point average. The recipient must be pursuing an education
in a restaurant/food service or a culinary art major. Students must write a short
essay in response to the following prompt: Why do you want to pursue an
education/career in the culinary arts or restaurant/food service industry?

The TNT Driving School Scholarship - $250
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SHS senior who has
taken the full TNT Drivers Education Program. The senior should be going on to
attend either a technical college or junior college program.

Trushin Memorial Scholarships
A. Stacy Miriam Trushin Memorial Scholarship - $600
To a graduating senior who has attended Stoughton High School for three
out of four years and has been accepted to an accredited four year school of
higher learning, and who plans to pursue a career in the sciences with medical
school/medical research as a future career goal. Student will display a strong
dedication and commitment to the medical sciences. The student should display
the following characteristics: compassion, cooperation, sensitivity and respect for
fellow students, along with a zest for life, eagerness, willingness and “hunger” to
learn.

B. Suzanne Carole Trushin Memorial Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who has attended Stoughton High School for 3 out of
4 years, has been accepted to an accredited four year institution of higher
learning to pursue a career working with special needs children either in an
educational setting or medical (pediatric nursing home) environment. The
recipient will also have been a member, for 3 out of 4 years, of the Stoughton
High Music Department either in Band(s) or in the Chorus. Characteristics of
love and dedication to chosen field of study along with a sensitive and positive
spirit toward oneself, family and fellow students should be exemplified.

David James Wade Memorial Scholarship (10) - $560
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Stoughton High
School senior David James Wade’s tragic passing on September 29, 2012.
Recipients must be any graduating Stoughton High School Senior who has been
accepted to any two or four-year college or university. Senior must write a brief
essay on “What influenced my life to get me to this point and where I’m heading
from here.”

Cynthia A. Walsh Scholarship - $500
To a graduating senior who demonstrates need. The recipient of this
award must have been enrolled at Stoughton High School for four years and be
accepted by an accredited institution of higher learning.

To a graduating senior who attended the West Elementary School for a
minimum of three full years, and who will be going on to higher education.

Dr. Appleton C. and Dorothy Woodward Memorial Performing Arts
Scholarship, presented by The Little Theatre of Stoughton - $1,000
To a graduating senior who showed desire, interest, growth and
excellence in the performing arts during his/her high school years and is
hopefully continuing his/her education in the performing arts.
