RULESANDREGULATIONS
1. ALBERTANATIVEHOCKEYPROVINCIALCHAMPIONSHIPS(ANHPC)shallbeplayedundertheofficialHOCKEYCANADA
rules,withtheexceptionoftheHOCKEYALBERTA(HA)andANHPCregulationand/orrulesadoptedbyAlbertaNative
Hockey(ANH)andendorsedbyHA.
2. TheChampionshipsaresanctionedbyHockeyAlberta.
3. HockeyAlbertacertifiedRefereesareusedthroughouttheANHPC.Allparticipants(players,coaches&supporters)
mustrespecttheirdecision.TherewillbeZEROTOLERANCEonabuseofreferees.
4. ItisMANDATORYthatthecoachingstaffhaveHAcertificationbeonthebenchatalltimes:
FailuretoadherewillresultinteambeingaskedtostopparticipationintheANHPC.

For Bantam AA, Bantam Elite Female, Midget AA, Midget Elite Female and Minor midget AAA where
Development 1 is required, any head Coach that possesses the High Performance 1 Certification will also be
deemed eligible.
** For Junior A, the requirement for Head Coaches to have High Performance 1 Certification is new for the 201617 season.
*** The Respect in Sport requirement excludes Senior/Junior Teams, unless a minor-aged player is registered to
and/or affiliated to the team
COACHING PROGRAMS
The requirements outlined above are based on a team’s categorization prior to November 15 of the current playing
season.
It is highly recommended that all Local Minor Hockey Associations ensure Assistant Coaches have completed the same
course(s) as noted above.
Development 1 and High Performance 1 courses require a Coach to be ‘Certified’ in order to meet the requirements.
Head Coaches will have to be ‘Trained’ in the course by November 15 of the current season and will have to have
completed full ‘Certification’ in the program by November 15 of the following season in order to remain eligible.
RESPECTINSPORTS
AllregisteredteamofficialsmusthavecompletedtheRespectinSport–ActivityLeaderProgram.Thisrequirement
excludesSeniorandJuniorteams,unlessaminor-agedplayerisregisteredtoand/oraffiliatedtotheteam
HOCKEYCANADASAFTEYPROGRAM
Allregisteredteamsmusthaveaminimumofone(1)registeredteamofficialwhohascompletedtheHockeyCanada
SafetyProgram(HCSP).
5. REGISTRATIONS
a. Allteamsareallowedtoregisteramaximumof19PLAYERS.(17skatersand2goalies)
Initiationdoesnothavetodesignategoalies.
b. AllplayersmustberegisteredwithHockeyAlberta.
c. ANHteamrosterregistrationdeadlinemustinclude1goalie,11skatersand2CoachingstaffdateisFebruary15th.
d. Rosterswillbefrozenafterrosterdeadlineandrostermovementwillnotbeallowed.Onlyblankrosterlinescan
befilledwithaplayer.Exceptionisgoaliesthathaveamedicalnotefromadoctorcanbereplacedbyaddinga
goalieusingtheadd-onrules.

e. Playersmaybeaddedonafterdeadlineprovidingthefollowingguidelineshavebeenmet.
1. Administrationfeeispaid.
2. Playerisnotonanyotherteamroster.
3. Allproperregistrationpapersforplayerareprovided.
4. Allabovearemetpriortoaddondeadlinedate.
5. Playersondoublerostercannotbereplacedwithanotherplayerasanadd-on.
f. ColorProofofaboriginaldescent,birthcertificate,&healthcarecardmustbesubmittedwithteamrosters.
g. TheANHPCrostersheetwillactasthemastersheetforplayerregistration.
Priortoallgamesthescoresheetwillbeverifiedagainstthemastersheet.
Anydiscrepanciesfoundwillresultinforfeitureofthegameand,furtherdisciplinaryactionwillresult.
6. PLAYERRELEASE
Playerreleasewillberequiredwhenaplayerwantstoparticipateforanothercommunity
a. WhentheplayerlivesinacommunitythatisingoodstandingwithANH.
b. WhentheplayerisHAregisteredduringregularseasonplay,withacommunitythatisingoodstandingwithANH.
c. Whentheplayerhasplayedwithacommunityfortwoconsecutiveyears,thatplayerisdeemedfromthat
community.
d. Allreleaseformsmustbesignedbythecommunityrepresentative;communityregistrarorpresident;parentor
guardian;&player.
e. ThemanageroftheteamisresponsibleforobtainingplayerreleaseformwhenaplayerisinquestionbyANHor
knowinglyaddingplayerstorosterfromanothercommunity.
f. Thecommunitythatshouldhavegrantedtheplayerreleaseformmustmakeaformalwrittencomplaint,atwhich
timetheplayerinquestionwillbesuspendeduntilarulingismadebytheANHboard.
g. Teamswillbenotifiedifplayersareontworosters.Therosterfirstsubmittedwillbedeemedtohaveprioritynot
withstandingeligibility.
h. AnyplayercaughtplayingontwoteamswilljeopardizebothteamsfromfurtherplayattheANHPC.
FailuretoobtainaproperlycompletedreleaseformcoulddisqualifyaplayerfromplayingintheANHPC.
7. CATEGORIZATION
a. PlayersregisteredwithHAasAAA,AA,A,Tier1,communityA,orJunioraredefinedas“A”playersforANHPC.
b. PlayersregisteredwithHAasTier2orlower,orcommunityB,C,andDaredefinedas“B”playersforANHPC.
c. Only2AplayersallowedonateamintheBdivisioniftheyaremembersfromthatcommunityorregistered
withinthatminorhockeyassociationwithHAinpreviousyears.
d. Beardivisionteamsmustconsistof12playersfromthatcommunityorminorhockeyassociation.
e. Aplayercanmovedownfromhislevelofplayaslongasagepermits.Howeverplayerwillbe
ClassifiedanAplayer.
8. GAMEREGULATIUON
a. Allteamsmustbeatthearenaatleast45minutespriortogametime.
b. Allgameswillstartontime.
c. Anyteamunabletocommenceplay10minutesaftergamestartwillforfeitgame.
d. Agoalwillbeawardedtoteamafter5mins,1goalforeveryminutethereaftertheteamislateupto10mins,for
s6-0forfeitwin.
e. Teamswillnotbeallowedindressingroomandwarmups,unlessaccompaniedbyateamofficial.
f. A10goaldifferentialexistsafterthesecondperiod,thegameshallbecalled.
g. Notiesinroundrobinplay.(withtheexceptionofInitiation)
h. Finalizediceschedulewillbepostedateacharena.Matchprogramschedulewitharenapostings.
i. ANHreservestherighttomatchthegametimeswithiceavailability.
9. PENALTIES
Allpenaltiesassessedduringstraighttimesshallbe:
Minorpenaltywillbe3minutes.
Majorpenaltywillbe5minutes.
Penaltiesassessedduringstraighttimewillnotcommenceuntilthepuckisdropped.
10. OVERTIME(NEW2016)
a. Willbesuddenvictory,firstgoalwins.
b. Allplaywillbestraighttime.
c. Clockwillstopaftereachprogression.Soplayerscanberemoved.
d. Puckshallbedroppedatcentericeaftereachprogression.
e. Overtimewillruninincrementsforfiveminutesasfollows;
(Goaltendermaybepulledatanytimeforanextraattackeratthediscretionofthecoach)
Twominutes 3on3 ifnogoalscored
Penaltieswillbecarriedovertothenextprogression
Twominutes 2on2 ifnogoalscored
Oneminute 1on1 ifnogoalscored
Penaltyshotwillbecalledforpenaltiesincurred
Shootoutwilloccur:
Threeplayerswillshootalternately
ifnogoalscored.
Oneplayerfromeachteamwillshootalternatelyuntilwinnerisdecided.
Playerscannotshootagainuntilnineplayersfromhisteamhaveshot.
11. TIEBREAKINGSYSTEM
Ifatieoccursinthestandingsafterroundrobinplay,thefollowingstepswilloccur:
Iftwoteamstie;
winnerofheadtoheadcompetitionwilldetermineplacement.
Ifthreeteamstie;
plus/minuswilldetermineplacementofallthree.
If,stilltiedfewestpenaltyminuteswilldetermineplacement.
12. DISCIPLINE
a. Alldisciplinaryrulingsshallbefinal
b. Managersandcoacheswillbedeemedresponsibleforthebehavioroftheirteamsandsupporters.
c. TheHAminimumsuspensionguidelineswillbeusedforsuspensions,withtheexceptionofthefollowing.
1. FightinginstigatororaggressorwillbesuspendedfromremainderofANHPC.
2. Retaliatorwillbesuspendedforthenextgame.
3. CheckingfrombehindwithintenttoinjurewillresultinsuspensionforremainderofANHPC.
d. Anyplayer,coach,managerwhoreceivesa9.6(a)(b)or(c)penalty,willbesuspendedfromremainderofANHPC
andwillbereportedtoHAforfurtherdisciplinaryaction.
e. ANHandHAwillreviewallmajorinfractionsanddisciplineaccordingly.
f. ANHmaycontinueasuspensiontoanyANHsanctionedeventandmayincludethefollowingyear.
g. ItistheresponsibilityofcoachesandmanagerstoreportandrecordanysuspensionstoANH.
h. Itistheresponsibilityofthecoachestomakesureaplayerassessedmajorpenaltiesdoesnotparticipateinthe
nextgame.
