Medieval Challenge Badge
North Devon District Senior Section have created a badge to raise money
to take 15 Senior Section Members to Switzerland in the summer of 2016.
Badges cost £1.20 and we very much hope you and your unit enjoy this badge,
as much as we have enjoyed designing it.

1. Play medieval charades-Use medieval words to act out to members of
your unit, patrol or six.

10. Make a hobby horse out of recycled materials and host a jousting
competition with foam lances and balloons!
11. Hold a medieval banquet
12. Make and eat jousted fruit!
13. Create a skit and perform it to your unit! Make sure to make them
laugh.
14. Have a go at Juggling and make your own juggling balls
15. Have a go at Stilt walking
16. Design and make medieval headgear
17. Hide dragons eggs outside or in your meeting place and hunt the Eggs
18. Play Sleeping Dragons! Don’t wake one up!

3-Learn the language of the fan
Back in the medieval period, ladies used the fan to communicate; have a go at communicating with each
other using your handmade fans.

Cut out a circle of material in the shape of a tea plate- See Template
Draw Grid on as of template
Make 8 holes around the edges and thread drawstring through
Play Tic Tac Toe, Play as Noughts and Crosses
When you have finished put the counters in the middle and draw the pouch
together.

Object of the game- To capture the opposing teams King
Needed: Large area for running around in
Equipment- 2 ropes for bases
-2 pack of cards shuffled- 1 team all reds – 1 team all blacks

The group is split into two equal groups

The pack of cards are shuffled

One person remains in the base and deals out the cards, however
a king and ace (Assassin) are chosen.

When in play individuals challenge opposing players to reveal their
cards by tagging them. The person whose card is lower, loses
their card to the opposing team. They both must return to their
base to: offer the winning card to their base master, or to gain
another card. (This continues until all cards are gone, then
players without cards must sit within their bases.)

The King can only be captured by the Queen or lower. If an ace
or another king tags the opposing king they just bounce and the
king’s identity is revealed.

If a card of the same value tags a card of the same value then
they just bounce. Nobody loses a card.

Only a King can assassinate the Aces!
