Levenshulme Sure Start Children’s Centre
Rhyme Time Session 10.30am-11.30am

Monday
Under five singing groups for parents/carers and their children, which will help
to develop children’s social skills and interaction through playing and singing.
Little Steps 1.30pm-3pm

Parent & baby group for children up to 16 months old or confidently walking,
offering a quality play environment, enabling carers to meet new people and
for baby to enjoy the heuristic play and treasure baskets and develop their
social, language and literacy skills through song and rhyme.
Starting School 9.30am-11.30am starts 21st April

Tuesday
A 6 weeks course for ESOL parents whose second language is English. The
course will help parents to improve their English, which will enable them to
communicate with their child(ren) school, learn about the school and give
them confidence to communicate with their child(ren) teachers. Crèche
available.
Healthy Child Drop In 1pm-3pm Last admittance at 2.45pm

Baby weighing and advice available from the Health Visiting Team.
Eight Month Healthy Child Programme Reviews 9am-12.30pm

Wednesday
Term time only. Every second & fourth Wednesday of the month by
appointment only. Development checks for your baby with Health Visiting
Team & information available from Outreach workers.
Two Year Healthy Child Programme Reviews 9am-12.30pm
 Every first & third Wednesday of the month by appointment only.
Development checks for your toddler with Heath Visiting Team.
Stay & Play 1pm-3pm

A group for parents/carers and their children, under five, offering activities
such as, arts & crafts, outdoor play, story time and sing along. From birth to 5
years old.
Breastfeeding Group 1pm-3pm

This group is aimed at mums-to-be & breastfeeding mums. It offers advice,
support and information about breastfeeding in a comfortable & relaxed
atmosphere.
Baby Bliss 9.30am-10.30am

Thursday
Sensory play and massage. Enjoy fun activities together to stimulate your
baby’s physical, social & emotional development. Only £1 per session, £2 for
non-Manchester Residents. From birth to 9 months old.
Childminders Drop In 10.45am-12.30pm

A drop-in play session for professional childminders & under 5’s. Term- time
only.
Outreach Drop-In 10am-11.30am

Support for parents who are new to the area, with housing issues, nursery,
and school places. Open to everyone, no appointment needed.
Stay & Play 1pm-3pm

A group for parents/carers and their children, offering activities such as, arts &
crafts, outdoor play, story time and sing along. From 16 months or confidently
walking to 5 years old.
Confident Parent/Confident Child (24thApril - 3rd July)

Friday
This positive, uplifting course will help parents/carers build their confidence,
so they can support and develop the confidence of their own children.
Appointments only.
Postnatal Clinic 12 -2pm

Run by midwives. Appointments only.
First Point of Contact 2pm-3.30pm

Saturday
Midwife available for women who think they may be pregnant or who are in
the early stages of pregnancy. To make an appointment please ring Radio
Room on 0161 276 6246.
Central Event-Active Birth Workshop at Gorton South Sure Start
10am-2pm

A day of practical skills & knowledge preparing you for birth. Please ring St.
Mary’s Hospital to book a place 0161 276 4246.
Please note that due to high level of interest we have been
required to set a maximum number of people for our Stay & Play
session. Unfortunately if the session is full you may be turned
away. This is to ensure the safety of all families. Please feel free
to speak to an outreach worker who will be happy to signpost
you to the next available Stay and Play.
Mobile phones/cameras are not be used in the centre.
Please do not be upset when asked to put them away.

Have an opportunity to represent local parents and share your views at quarterly meetings. Contact the
centre 0161 431 5136 for dates and times of meetings and to check crèche availability.
Next Advisory Meeting is on 30th March 2015.

Mound Rd Job Club Wednesday 1-3pm

Advice and support, CV writing/application filling, internet access for job searching, interview skills.
