perform with.

Structure:
WARM UP
* Explanation of lesson objectives
*Each lesson will begin with a warm up with stretches, teacher lead at
first but with emphasis on pupils leading over time.
PRACTICE
Experiment with various balls of textures and sizes to see which suits
each pupil.
Create a theme :
Butterfly: (girls)
The ball is a butterfly and it gracefully moves from one place to another.
They must make a sequence of 3 or 4 moves from around their body.
Sport: (boys)
Think of movements that rugby players would use during their game with
the ball.
SKILL WORK
Examples of ball movements:
How:
Explore different ways to move the ball around the body,
Where: Explore different levels, high, medium & low
Explore speed and accuracy of transferring from one movement
From another,
*Rolling ball on the thigh
*Placing ball on thighs with one or both hands
*Roll ball in the air with arm outstretched and holding ball between palms
*Tossing the ball at least head height and catching it safely.

*Get the pupil to pick 2 or 3 moves that he/she liked and try to link
them together to create a sequence.
*Give time for practice.
*Get pupil’s to join up with a partner and teach each other’s moves.
*If class has larger numbers put pupils in groups of four so each team of
two has moves to teach each other.
EVALUATION:
Get pupils to show others their work and to have positive evaluations
from their peer so it can be improved for next week.
COOL DOWN
*Stretches to cool down and deep breathing to help bring the pulse rate
back to normal.
Differentiation:
*Different size and weights of balls may help the pupil.
Tips, suggestions, additional resources:
*Some pupils may have difficulty in grasping the ball. A ball with
textured surface my help them grasp the ball easier.
