POSITION DESCRIPTION
PROMOTIONS MANAGER
The Position:
The Promotions Manager manages, and is responsible for, attaining
sponsorship, fundraising, promoting the game of softball, recruiting activities
and raising the profile of the sport within the corporate sector and the
community of Maryborough and surrounding districts.
Note: Managers are responsible for management of the portfolio. Management may be defined
as supervising and managing the tasks associated with the portfolio. A Manager may nominate
other sub positions and sub-committees to work within the portfolio area to achieve the desired
outcomes.
Portfolio Interpretation:
The Promotions Portfolio covers
 Promotion
 Marketing
 Recruitment
 Sponsorships.
Purpose of Position:
 To actively develop promotional activities on behalf of the Association.
 Research and identify the needs and expectations of Association members.
 Understand present and future environments and Identify target markets.
 Analyse promotional activities, measuring benefits, achievements and costs.
 To actively develop and organise merchandising on behalf of the Association as a revenue
raising system.
 To develop, promote, implement and assist in recruitment activities.
 To analyse methods of raising the profile of softball in Maryborough and surrounding
districts.
Function of Position:
 Ability to function as a key player in a team to deliver the expected outcomes of the
operational plan and the needs of the members.
 Proven ability to interpret financial statements, management of Association assets and the
effective delivery of all activities designated.
 High level of understanding of the needs of the Association to continue to develop.
 Proven understanding of the legal, financial, ethical, moral and physical requirements of the
Management Committee.
 Assist in the implementation and communication of the Associations policies and
procedures.
 Develop innovative methods and techniques to attain goals.
Status of Position
 This position holds a place on the Management Committee and is entitled to one (1) vote.

Term of Position:
 This position is for a term of one (1) year.
 Incumbent may be available for annual re-election.

Requirements:
Proven high standard of written and oral communication.
Level of competency on Microsoft Word and Excel, and email systems
Demonstrated strong Associational, record keeping and people management skills.
Proven ability to identify, prioritise, complete and delegate tasks appropriately to meet
deadlines to “get the job done”.
 Ability to function as a key player in a team, providing and following leadership where
required.
 Proven ability to effectively and efficiently implement the Associations administration and
management requirements.
Interaction:
The position is expected to interact with these and other personnel and committees.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
 Attend meetings of the Association.
 Present a progress report of activities and plans being undertaken, at each Management
meeting.
 Act as an avenue for tabling at Management Meetings, all input, suggestions, queries,
concerns and issues raised by Association members.
 As directed by the Management Committee, act on behalf of the Association in accordance
with the Association rules, including liaising, consulting and negotiating with external
agencies as appropriate.
 Review and evaluate marketing practices to ensure effectiveness and cost beneficial
approach is attained.
 Develop and revise the goals of the Strategic Plan and yearly operational plans for this
position.
 Develop a budget for inclusion in the strategic and operational plans for this position.
 Organise publicity on behalf of the Association.
 Promote and market the game of softball through all avenues available.
 Publicise the official fixture draw prior to, and results of games played.(This role is to be
negotiated with the Competition Manager as to who will undertake the responsibility to
achieve the most effective and efficient outcome.)
 Submit to Media Outlets, any advertisement or reports on games, or any subject on behalf
of the Association.
 Recruit new players on behalf of the Association in an impartial manner, ensuring fairness
and equity in the distribution of information relating to all Clubs so that new recruits make
an informed decision.
 Manage fundraising activities on behalf of the Association whilst working in conjunction with
the Treasurer.
 Prepare a summary of achievements and recommendations for inclusion in the Annual
Report of the Association.
 Shall effectively maintain all relevant records and documents for this position, and provide
same to the newly elected office bearer within one (1) week after the AGM.
