The Yukon Development Education Centre’s (YDEC) new project, the Northern Council for Global
Cooperation (NCGC), is currently recruiting TWO energetic, engaging and passionate youth
interested in, and committed to, local and global sustainable social justice by taking part in a
Learning Exchange Program at the World Social Forum (WSF) in Montreal, Quebec, August 9th to
14th, 2016.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
NCGC and partners across Canada have been invited to host a gathering space and workshop at
the World Social Forum 2016 called: “The Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the Context of the
Sustainable Development Goals”. Professional workshop facilitator and filmmaker, Eliza
Knockwood, will mentor selected candidates to co-develop and co-facilitate this workshop.
COMMITMENT:
 one day of pre-workshop organization by teleconference with workshop development
team (date TBD)
 attendance at the World Social Forum August 9th – 14th, 2016
 write about your experience while attending the WSF using social media (a daily blog,
tweet and/or facebook)
 one day of pre-workshop organization with workshop development team (August 11th)
 one day of workshop delivery and documentation of outcomes with workshop
development team (August 12th)
 development and delivery of a one-hour presentation to home community upon return
(TBD)
ELIGIBILITY:
In order to be eligible to apply for the WSF Learning Exchange, applicants must meet the
following requirements:
 be aged 18 - 35 (inclusive);




be a high school graduate;
be legally entitled to work in Canada;
be of Aboriginal affiliation in Canada; and
be a resident of one of the three Northern Territories.
Funding for this opportunity will be provided by NCGC and includes the following: return airfare
to Montreal, accommodation, per diem and WSF registration.
