Soccer 2014 Frequently Asked Questions
How are teams formed?
Team placement is on a first come, first serve basis. Players are put in age divisions based on their age as of
August 1, 2014. Players who wish to be on a team with a specific coach must register before the coaches’ team
is full or they will be placed on their second choice. There are 14 players Max per team.
When are practices?
The head coach will contact the parents about practice time and locations shortly after the coaches meeting.
All practices held at local elementary schools. Practices will begin the week of September 9th. The specific
day is chosen by coaches at the coaches meeting.
When is the coach meeting?
It is tentatively scheduled for Thursday September 11th ages 3-4 5:30pm, 5-6 6:00pm 7-8 6:30pm, 9-11 7:00pm.
When and where are games?
Games are all held on Saturdays at Local Middle School. The season lasts from September 20tth – November 1st
When will the kids receive their team shirts?
Player will receive team shirts the Thursday before the first game or on game day. If a shirt is lost within the
First week, there will be a $10.00 fee to replace it. After the first week, Shirts can not be replaced. Coaches will
be called during the week of the first game to pick up shirts from the Parkway Branch YMCA. The colors will be
chosen by the Sports Director within one week of the coaches meeting.
Will the players receive awards?
All players will receive awards at the last game. The coaches will be responsible for picking up awards and
passing them out to the players. Each individual team can put together their own end of the year party.
When is picture day? Do I have to purchase pictures for my child?
Picture day will be TBD. Coaches, parents and players need to arrive 30 minutes before game on picture day.
Pictures will be returned the week of the last game. Parents do not have to purchase pictures but everyone
must take the team picture.
What does my child need to wear to games?
Players should wear sport shorts or sweat pants and cleats. CLEATS ARE ALLOWED FOR All AGE GROUPS.
Players can wear shoes with soft plastic cleats NO METAL CLEATS or shoes with cleats on the toe of the shoe.
Should my child bring a ball to practice?
It is great for your child to bring their ball to practice but please write their name on it clearly with a permanent
marker and make sure it is the same size that the team uses.
Do I need to sign and return the Parents Contract to the YMCA?
No, at the first practice the coach will have a team copy. Each parent will sign their child’s name on the form
and then place their signature next to it.
Can parents receive a copy of the YMCA soccer rules?
We are still modifying our Youth soccer rules for the upcoming season. Coaches will be given copies of the
rules at the coaches meeting. They will then pass those copies on to the parents at the first team practice.
What happens in the event of a rain out?
The safety of all players, coaches, parents and staff is the first concern of the YMCA. In the event that the field
is in bad condition the games will be scheduled for make up later in the season. Rain outs will be added at the
end of the season. It there is more than one rain out the second game will not be made up. To find out if your
