Mahindra World City, Jaipur’s first unit in manufacturing zone sends first
export consignment
Internationally renowned unit in the field of knitting tools & accessories, KnitPro
International, successfully sends its first export consignment from MWC SEZ
June 17, 2011, Jaipur: The manufacturing zone of Mahindra World City (MWC), Jaipur, a Special
Economic Zone reached a milestone when its first unit in the manufacturing zone – KnitPro
International - sent its first export consignment to Europe.
KnitPro International’s product line mainly consists of exquisitely crafted knitting tools and
accessories which will be sold in the internationally developed markets of Europe, USA, Canada,
Australia, Japan, etc. The firm offers a comprehensive range of products, including innovative
interchangeable needles, and other products such as double pointed needles, crochet hooks,
etc. KnitPro is the first company to undertake production of these products on a mass scale.
Mr. S C Panda, Development Commissioner, Noida Special Economic Zone, was also present on
the occasion. He said, “I am happy to see the progress that Mahindra World City, Jaipur is
making to become the first operation Light Engineering / Auto / Auto Component SEZ in North
India.”
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. B K Subbaiah, COO, Mahindra World City, Jaipur, said, “I am

enabling exports in such a short span of time. Mahindra World City, Jaipur has established itself

Mr Rajhans Upadhay, Commissioner Industries, Government of Rajasthan, was also present on
the occasion.
Mr. Panda also felicitated several women’s self help groups which have been set up as part of
Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives being undertaken by Mahindra World City, Jaipur in
partnership with TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS INCUBATOR-KIET. These self help groups are
being integrated to undertake work for the units coming up in the Handicrafts & Light
Engineering zones of Mahindra World City, Jaipur.

Genus, etc.
Mahindra World City, Jaipur has been identified as part of a list of 16 projects globally, which are
being supported by the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), a foundation for sustainable
development promoted by Former US President Bill Clinton. Only 2 of these projects are Indiabased, and Mahindra World City, Jaipur is one of these.
Mahindra World City, Jaipur at full capacity occupancy & operations level is expected to attract
investment of over Rs.10,000 crores. This will create direct employment for approximately
100,000 people and indirect employment for over 1,50,000 people. It will export goods and
services of more than Rs.4500 crores year on year.
