Thursday we held a 2 Ball Aggregate with 73 starters hitting off. Surprise to all Paddy Byrne
and John Hopkins scored 73 points, this was enough to get them over the line. Paddy has
surprised all with his form over the past couple of weeks.
Runner’s up voucher was taken out by ever present Bruce Berry and Phil Mander the pair
often in the winners circle they had a round of 72 points.
Dennis Ashton and Peter Dawe a little unlucky to get beaten in the count back with a back 9
of 35 while Berry and Mander recorded 37 for the homeward run.
Others worthy of mention are John Patterson and Michael Lee a round of 69 points. Ball
rundown went to 64 with Geoff Wilson and Harry Parnell the only ones to receive after a 33
back nine. Balls for nearest the pins went to Keith Elphick on (Sladies hole) second shot
nearest the pin at the par 4 third hole. Les Mohr took the 5th, Greg Smith took out the 7th
and 15th, Daniel Wilkinson (Cronulla) the 8th, Peter Dawe took home the pizza at the 13th,
and Chris Thorndike at last picked up the money shot at 18.
Saturday a two man Ambrose was held with 92 taking part with the winner playing off a
handicap of 2.25 Peter Farrell and Bruce Berry a 60.75 to win the day, picking up the runners
up voucher Dennis Ashton and Greg McCoy (4.75) with a score of 61.25. Rounding out the
winners in third place Bernie Dugdale and Alan Cockburn (6.50) a round of 61.50. Other to
show out the Coneybeare brothers Richard and Robert, Tommy Robbins and Neil Duffus,
Drew Glasson and Rod Robertson along with Keith Elphick and Alvin Rapley all a round of
62.50. Ball rundown went to 65 with Geoff Poole and Eddy Penrose along with Warren
Fuller and Paul McElhinney the last one to collect.
Pins for the round went to Geoff Wilson at the 5th, Paul Ryan the 7th, Greg Smith the 8th,
Linnie Street the pizza hole 13th, C Kerr took out the 15th while Alvin Rapley was pretty
“chuffed” to get the money shot at 18.
Sunday our A team in Pennants took on Urunga and came away with a win after 2 wins 2
halves and 1 loss. Our B team took on Coffs Harbour at Coffs and went down with a 4.½ to ½
loss.
Next Saturday will be a 4BBB round and this is the last chance to qualify for the first round
Men’s 4 Ball Championship. Today Thursday is our Dolphin Day round of Stableford that is
