Strategic use of the new KS2 and KS4 measures Course aim and content: The aim of this workshop is to look at the new performance measures at KS4 and KS2 and their use as strategic tools at whole school, subject and pupil level. The session will focus on: ● Use of the KS4 performance measures in school self-evaluation and curriculum review and development ● Use of the new KS2 Scaled Scores to build a picture of the relative strength of the cohort ● Use of the KS2 data to inform target setting (including looking at different models of target setting) ● Approaches to tracking student progress through KS3 and KS4 to support the identification of potential underachievement and early intervention with individuals As part of the workshop schools will be given the opportunity to reflect of their own use of data and identify areas that may wish to explore further with support. Programme delivery: This workshop will be run by Alan Blackburn, Senior Deputy Headteacher at Uffculme School. Alan is an experienced senior leader and for the last 12 years has held responsibility for curriculum and assessment including leadership of the school’s data systems. Alan has previously presented at the SSAT National Conference and Regional School Conference on school improvement and teaching and learning. During this time performance data has placed Uffculme consistently in the top 5% of schools nationally and in 2016 Uffculme was ranked 11th nationally for Progress 8.
