height is 8 or less, then the rosettes will be awarded for 1 st to 4th place. Any class which does not have at least ten
entries will be combined with the next jump height for awards. Junior Handlers will be combined with
Veterans for placements.
Special Prizes and Awards:
On Sunday, the Overall Agility Championships winner will be named to the highest scoring dog/handler in each
standard division height for the Elite and Pre-Elite groups. Points for this class will have been accumulated from
points earned in each round of the Regular Agility classes. Veterans and Jr. Handlers may jump at a lower height, but
they will be scored with their Standard division jump height group. The same handler must handle the dog in all
rounds in order to be eligible for Overall cumulative awards. Proficient and Skilled categories will be combined. If
entries allow, then extra splits will be given for Veterans and Jr, Handlers. Double Digit Veterans will be placed
separately. If a dog is over 7 on August 1, 2017, then they MUST enter the Veterans division. If a dog is over 10 on
the first day of the Championships, then they will be entered into the Double Digit division.

Scoring
Scoring will be on a time plus faults basis.
Course Differences- Regular Agility Class - Elite
The courses are longer than the average weekend, as this event should highlight the gifted dog/handler teams which
can show both mental and physical stamina with consistent performances. In all divisions, the courses will be 28
or more obstacles, (more likely to be 25-35) with a possibility of more contact and weave pole performances than a
normal weekend (with no more than 12 weave poles in any one set). Each course will have several distance
challenges, in which, if the dog fails, they will receive 5 faults per distance test that is attempted and failed. If the
distance test is not attempted at all, then 10 faults will be assessed.
Course Differences- Regular Agility Class – Pre-Elite
The courses will be comparative of the average weekend. There will be no distance tests on any of the courses.
The term “current year” shall mean the term from August 1, 2016 to August 1, 2017. In all classes, if the classes do
not fill with 250 entries, then we will allow for a lowered entry requirements (second chance entry) for a period from
August 3 to August 10.
Class Eligibility for the 2017 NADAC Championships
Regular Agility Championships:
Eligibility for the Regular Agility Class is as follows:
Regular Agility, Elite level, Proficient/Skilled: at least 200 points must have been
earned in the dog's lifetime. These points may have come from any/all classes offered in
NADAC, with the following requirements:
1. At least 100 points must have been earned in the current year from the Regular Agility
class at the Open or Elite level.
2. At least 20 points must have been earned in the current year, at the Open or Elite level, in
both Jumpers and Chances.
3. At least 20 points must have been earned in the current year at any level in Hoopers.
4. If a dog is over 7 on August 1, 2016, then they MUST enter the Veterans division. If a
dog is over 10 on the first day of the Championships, then they will be entered into the
Double Digit division.
Regular Agility, Pre-Elite level, Proficient/Skilled:
1. At least 100 points must have been earned be earned in the current year from the Regular
Agility class. A dog entered in Pre-Elite cannot have earned more than 100 points in Elite
Regular in their lifetime up to September 15, 2017. If a dog earns more than 100 points in
Elite Regular, then their entry will be switched to the Elite level.
2. At least 20 points must have been earned in the current year at any level in Hoopers.
3. If a dog is over 7 on August 1, 2017, then they MUST enter the Veterans division. If a
dog is over 10 on the first day of the Championships, then they will be entered into the
Double Digit division. Veterans may or may not be split into a different division in PreElite, depending upon entry numbers. If not split, then all dogs jumping at the same
height will be scored together.
Stakes Entries:
1.
For entry into the StarterStakes division the dog must have earned at least two 15
point distance challenge qualifiers (Regular class), or one Regular bonus in the current
year.
2.
For entry into the SilverStakes division the dog must have earned a minimum of 75
bonus points with at least one 20 point bonus/distance challenge in Regular OR two 15
point bonuses/distance challenges in Regular in the current year.
3. For entry into the SuperStakes division the dog must have earned a minimum of 120
bonus points with a minimum of two 25+ point bonuses in Regular in the current year
with both of those being with a run index of over 100.
4. For each run of Regular Agility, there could be several bonus areas set on each course,
for which the dog will earn points for successful sequences performed at a distance
that will count towards his overall Stakes points for the entire competition week. The
degree of distance will change with each level. The dogs will be allowed to jump at
the same jump height as they are on a regular weekend trial, including any height
reductions for Veterans, and Jr, Handlers.
The distance requirements for the bonus areas could be greater than the distance tests on
regular trial weekends. This class will highlight the dog/handler team’s ability to do exceptional
distance handling skills and obstacle performance skills.
Stakes scoring:
Each dog/handler team will be competing against a base total of points.
The base number of points will be dependent upon the height of the dog and the stakes level they
are competing at (Starter, Silver, Super). These points will be posted publically.
Any team which earns an overall total that meets or exceeds the required total will earn a Stakes
Champion Cup. This total will be posted publically.
It is possible that every team entered could earn a Stakes Cup and it is possible that no team
entered could earn a Stakes Cup. Even if there is only one dog entered at a level, it is possible
that a Stakes Cup is not earned at that level.
In each individual round, beautiful sashes will be given to every team that meets the minimum for
that round. So each team is trying to earn the individual round sashes and hoping that they also
earn the total overall points for a Stakes Cup. The Stakes Cups will be difficult to earn, just as
weekend bonuses are difficult to earn.
Every team will also have EP numbers added to each round's score. EP is the number of
qualifying rounds earned from the current year's regular bonus rounds that is appropriate for the
level entered. For instance, if a dog has earned 5 qualifying bonuses from the regular class during
the time period August 1, 2016 to August 1, 2017. Of those 5 regular bonus qualifiers, two are
Purple bonuses and three are Silver bonuses. If the dog is entered in SuperStakes then they have
an EP of two (2 Purple bonuses). If the dog is entered in Starters or SilverStakes then they have
an EP of 5. All regular bonus runs/distance challenge runs would count as EP totals for Starters or
Silver, but only Purple regular bonus runs would count for SuperStakes. Each round at
Championships that the dog runs in, they will have their EP added to their scores. This also helps
to create more incentive for handlers to earn bonus points in the Regular Agility class during the
year, knowing it will help their scores if they enter a Stakes class in the Championships.
At the StarterStakes and SilverStakes divisions, the dog will earn their score for their performance
on the course, plus any added bonus points earned by the dog, plus EP. Even if a dog runs clean
in every round, if they don't earn bonus points they will not have an overall total high enough for a
Stakes Cup. The dog must be able to earn bonus points in each run.
In the SuperStakes division, the dog will earn their score for their performance on the course, plus
any added bonus points earned by the dog, plus any added bonus points earned by handler bonus
points, plus EP. Even if a dog runs clean in every round, and earns bonus points, if the handler
doesn't earn handler bonus points they will not have an overall total high enough for a Stakes Cup.
The dog must be able to earn bonus points in each run, plus the handler must be able to earn
additional handler bonus points.
In StarterStakes, the handlers will have a larger area from which to handle their dogs. SilverStakes
teams will handle from a smaller area than StarterStakes entrants. SuperStakes entrants will
handle from a smaller area than the SilverStakes entrants.
With this format no handler is competing against another handler. It will be the dog and handler
against the course. Everyone can cheer each team and in no way can a great run or a bad run by
another team affect your score. Your score is only about you and your dog and the course!
