Defensive Zone (20-second count) Zone 3 Zone 4 (10-second count) (attack area or stalling area) Illegal Procedure TECHINCAL FOULS FAILURE TO ADVANCE the BALL RULINGS Advancing the Ball Beyond Midfield Line 4-14 SITUATION B: Team A is clearing the ball when the ball becomes loose in the defensive half of the field. Team B commits a technical violation. RULING: A play on situation. If Team A regains possession of the ball, the Play On is over and a new 20-secount count starts. Advancing the Ball into Goal Area 4.15 SITUATION A: Team A has possession in the offensive half of the field and a 10 second count has started. The ball becomes loose and team B commits a technical violation. RULING: A Play On situation. If Team A regains possession of the ball, the play on is over and a new 10 second count starts. 4.15 SITUATION B: Team A has possession of the ball in its attack goal area. The ball becomes loose and Team A gains possession of the ball in their defensive half of the field. RULING: A 10-second count starts for Team A unless Team B had an intervening possession. In that case a 20 second clear count starts. Illegal Procedure TECHINCAL FOULS Face-offs Wing line violations on FO are Play ons (but ignore if there was a pre-whistle violation by face-off men) 2. Violation during face-off before possession: possible play-on, i.e. kicking crosse, illegal touching, playing without crosse = awarded restart over center X If after FO whistle but before possession, and there is a loose 1. ball technical for pushing, holding, interference = restart awarded at spot of foul, not over center X 3. Pre-Whistle violation = award over center X Illegal Procedure TECHINCAL FOULS Player drops crosse with ball in it If player attempts to retrieve crosse, IP Otherwise players from either team may kick or flip crosse to try and gain access to the ball. Player deliberately leaves penalty area before penalty time expired and goal is scored = unexpired time wiped out but must serve new 30 seconds Penalty time on player released or waved off by goal then goal disallowed because illegal crosse found on scorer = player must serve reminder of penalty time.
