Club Session Plan
Key:
Decision Making in a 2v1
Organisation:
Start session in two SSG’s.
Focus for the players is to play out from the back, play forward as often as
possible and to try and make good decisions.
Organisation:
10x15 area, 2v2. The aim is to dribble the ball past the other teams end line.
When you don’t have the ball you must drop a player back to defend the
end line. If the ball turns over then defending players now attack and the
other team drops a player back.
STEP:
Size and Shape – Increase/decrease size to make easier/difficult.
Task – Allow both defending players to attack the ball (don’t drop and
defend line)
Equipment – Different sized footballs and goals.
People – Increasing numbers on pitch. (3v3)
Links to 4 Corners:
Technical – Keep ball close when dribbling. Use skills to beat the defender 1v1 or
select the correct pass to pass to teammate (weight/type)
Physical – Acceleration/deceleration to get past your opponent. Ability to go both
left and right.
Psychological – Recognising when is a good time to pass and when is good to
dribble.
Social – Team work to find ways to get the ball across the end line, talking tactics.
Challenges & Questions:
-Try to dribble the ball across the opponents end line
- Try to play forward.
- Try to make good decisions for your team.
- Try new tricks and skills, be brave
- Try a creative pass
-How can you use your teammate to help you take on the defender
1v1?
-When might it be better to pass the ball?
-If you lose the ball what do you need to do?
