Not only has the Local, Regional, and World U.S. Kids Golf
tournament play helped Michaela hone her skills as a junior golfer,
she developed the confidence at a young age to interact and
compete with a variety of people as she progressed to other junior
golf circuits. Quality family time, diverse friendships, the discipline
to practice, and the spirit to compete gained through the years with
U.S. Kids Golf will serve her well in every aspect of her future.

ages 5—14. The events average more than 300 participants
who have earned Priority Status. Players with Green Status
are offered first priority to register for the event, followed
by Orange, then Blue. These tournaments are run by official

family destination.

State Invitationals
State Invitationals are two-day tournaments designed to bridge
the gap between Local Tours and Regional Championships. The
events average more than 150 participants, ages 5—14, who have
earned Priority Status. Invitations are sent to in-state residents
with Priority Status, then out-of-state Priority Status players, based
on space availability. These tournaments are run by U.S. Kids Golf
Local Tour Directors with the support of area volunteers.

Since 2008, many of the world’s best young golfers, ages 5—18,
have journeyed to East Lothian, Scotland for the prestigious
U.S. Kids Golf European Championship. This signature
international event is contested on five championship courses
at the birthplace of golf. These heralded links courses challenge
over 600 participants from more than 50 countries. The event
begins at the Gosford House, where families can participate
in Highland Games during the Opening Ceremony. Following
the three-day championship, the European Van Horn Cup — a
one-day best ball tournament featuring the top players from
Western Europe squaring off against the top players from the
rest of the world — is contested on Luffness New.

World Championship
The World Championship is the pinnacle event for
young golfers, ages 5 to 12. Each year since 2005,
Pinehurst and the surrounding community have played
host to over 1400 golfers from more than fifty countries.
The week-long experience includes a Parent/Child
tournament, Team Challenge, Parade of Nations, Honda
Skills Challenge, three rounds of tournament play,
and the Closing Ceremony. Following the three-day

Parent Caddies
U.S. Kids Golf encourages and supports parental involvement
in youth golf, especially through the role of caddying. Players
ages eight and under must have a caddy for all tournaments,
while caddies are optional for kids nine and over.
Caddying is one of the most memorable ways to support
the growth of a young person’s game. Becoming a good
caddy takes time and experience. U.S. Kids Golf recommends
the book, Daddy Caddy on the Bag by Rick Heard, PGA
Professional and U.S. Kids Golf TOP50 Master Kids Teacher. To
purchase Rick’s book, visit www.daddycaddyonthebag.com
Positive Coaching Alliance
U.S. Kids Golf has partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance, or
PCA, in order to provide vital information in the role of parenting
young athletes. All parents, and especially those who caddy, are
strongly encouraged to complete the 2nd Goal Parent PCA course
online. U.S. Kids Golf provides a discount code for the course.
A $25 tournament coupon is available upon completion. To get
started, please visit www.uskidsgolf.com/pca.
Teen World Championship
Each year, the Teen World
Championship welcomes golfers ages
13—18 to six championship courses
in the Pinehurst area. These courses
have provided a stage for golf’s next
generation of stars to shine.
Over 600 golfers from more than 40
countries travel to the home of Amerircan golf for the Teen World
Championship. The schedule consists of a college golf seminar,
Skills Experience, three rounds of tournament play, and the Closing
Ceremony. Following the three-day championship, the Teen Van Horn
Cup — a one-day best ball tournament featuring the top players from the
United States squaring off against the top players from the rest of the
world — is contested on Pinehurst No. 2.
