Halifax Junior Cricket League Meeting Minutes

1- SGM
All rules proposed were passed with 3 clubs against. The new rules passed
are as follows;
U9s
Remove
J7 - (e) A match shall be one innings per side and consist of 20 five-ball overs where there are 10
players per side. In the case of an 8-a-side match 16 six-ball overs per side shall be bowled.
J7 - (f) Teams shall play 10-a-side pairs cricket, however an 8-a-side match may be played with the
agreement of the two managers. In extreme circumstances fewer players may be used in an attempt
to “GET THE GAME ON”.
Batting: Each pair shall bat for four overs with the two batsmen being changed at the completion of
the fourth, eighth, twelfth and sixteenth overs or in the case of an 8-a-side match at the fourth, eighth
and twelfth overs. Bowling: May be either underarm or overarm at the discretion of each player
(dependent on capability) and shall be from one end throughout the match. Each player shall bowl
two overs and the bowler shall change at the end of each over.

2- Roll Call

Non-attendees – Booth, Barkisland, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby St Peters,
Warley. All to be fined per rule J3(g).
3- Minutes of the Previous Meeting
Proposed as an accurate record by Sowerby bridge, Seconded by Low Moor.
4- Chairman’s report
A standard ball is currently being sourced for all Under 11 & Under 13 games.
As per rule passed J9(c) a box of 6 shall be purchased. The ball is expected
to cost £5 equating to £30 a box (may slightly increase). Graham Young will
invoice all clubs and the balls will be delivered by The Cricket Asylum before
the start of the season.
Android tablets are in the process of being purchased which will be kept at
each club. These tablets are free of charge to all clubs who have a junior side
in the league during the 2017 season. Clubs wishing to purchase more are
expected to provide a donation of the cost of the tablet. If any clubs require
more than one tablet, please can you inform the secretary of this by
Wednesday 12th April 2017.
Phil Sharples delivered a presentation at the West Yorkshire Leagues Council
surrounding the changes we have made to the league and the new processes
that we are adopting.
5- Treasurers Report
All team entry fees are to be paid by 31st May. Any payment received after
this date will incur extra charges as per rules.
The Bearder Charity have awarded us £3000 for the 2017, thanks to the
charity and David Normanton for the continued support.
6- Fixture Report
Peter Taylor thanked all clubs for the timely responses to submitting teams.
All the fixtures have now been completed and are present on the CricHQ
platform.
It was agreed that there will be no fines for the first half of season for late
submissions of results.
7- Correspondence, CricHQ & Website
Presentation delivered of the new website and the CricHQ platform.
Kirstin Smith & Phil Sharples will be visiting clubs who have U15 & U17 teams
to establish the reasons for the dropout rate of players. It was suggested that
these meetings take place during the game rather than after due to exams
and families getting home.
It was stated that the questionnaire of questions asked will be emailed to
clubs prior to arrival and the HJCL secretary will email all clubs to inform of
visiting.
CricHQ training will be Wednesday 12th April at Copley Cricket Club, 7:30pm.
Please can clubs bring their own tablets or smartphones as the purchased
android tablets will not be set up, however will be distributed.
8- Sponsorship
Stuart Thompson informed clubs of the sponsorship which has currently been
received. Romwear are the official sponsors of the Collinson Cup and Bear
Cricket have kindly sponsored £250 when purchasing the android tablets.
Kirstin will email out a sponsorship letter for all clubs to distribute in their area
to try find sponsorship for the league. Stuart is trying to avoid taking club
sponsors as this is what keeps clubs alive.
All Taverners sides U15 & U17 will be trained as activators and coach support
workers, however funding needs to be sourced for this. We will be looking for
sponsors to pay for the players to go through this course if possible.
Max Gardner has completed his level 2 coaching course which was paid for
by the league.
We aim to put a further 5 – 6 young people through this course during 2018.
Clubs are to send an email to the secretary as to why the player would
benefit, their background and what they would give back to the sport. A
proforma will be produced and emailed to all clubs to complete.
The West Yorkshire Leagues Council also provided £100 towards this course
and suggested we could apply again.
9- The Cricket Asylum (TCA) Report
U13 representative side coming to an end. Paul Whitehouse is looking for
friendlies for the U15 rep side, please email if interested. TCA are running
Easter holiday coaching courses Tuesday and Wednesday at £22 a day or
£40 for both. Thursday and Friday is elite coaching for the same price.
Blackley CC raised the point of representative sides training on Friday nights
which impacts on club training sessions. The HJCL executive committee
stated this will be considered and avoided in the future. Apologised to the club
in hand.
TCA will be holding summer courses during the 6 week holidays, however 2
of these courses the 2nd and 4th weeks will be Halifax Junior Cricket League
Coaching Camps.
Alex Murphy indicated that there will be a girl’s festival 13th May free of
charge.
10- YCB Matters
Alex Murphy indicated lots of clubs have signed up and clubs can email Alex
for support if needed.
Every school in Halifax and Kirklees have been offered assemblies and had
leaflet drops. It was suggested that clubs were to highlight other sports clubs
in the area and use these as a way in.
Alex has offered taster sessions at football and rugby clubs to try get interest.
11- CDG
11th April there will be a first aid course run by the CDG please let Julie
Pearson know if you are interested. Scorers course had to be cancelled due
to lack of venue but this is trying to be rearranged.
12- Social Media
New Facebook page has been created.
13- Dates for the diary
12th April 2017. CricHQ training to be at Copley Cricket Club at 7:30pm.
14- AOB
SBCI – struggling for cup competitions. Any extra players at other clubs would
be welcome to join SBCI to help them out.
Shelf – Grant applications. AM informed that this takes time and YCB would
be in touch in due course.
CDG – the use of the periscope app. This app is a platform for videoing.
Indicated the league would seek guidance on this and further information
would be distributed.
Phil Sharples – CricHQ are looking to install cameras at grounds to enable
live feeds. There is potential to stream the Collinson Cups.
