Need for Change in professional
Military Education at the UoD
 Changes in broader security environment:
o
Growing complexity and dynamics,
o
International environment;
 Changes in educational system:
o
European Qualification Framework/CZ National Qualification
Framework
 Changes inside the Czech Armed Forces:
o
Professionalization,
o
Operations abroad (deployment tempo),
o
New career system;
 Changes inside the UoD:
o
Necessity to increase cost effectiveness.
2
Parameters of Key Changes
 „Demand driven“ system of education (teaching contents driven
by requirements of the CAF GS/MoD.
 More general basis of education (graduate = officer – commander
in given branch, not officer – specialist).
 Long-term approach to educating and shaping personalities of
future officers according to requirements of the CAF (five years
MSc. degree program).
 Linking theory and practice (basic training + 13 months of practical
training and internships).
 Focusing on military characteristics of education and the ability to
adapt to changing needs of the CAF (all students trained primary
as officers - platoon leaders).
 Reduction of the number of study branches enabling for
rationalization and enhancing efficiency of the process (number of
branches/modules based on MoD/CAF requirement).
