April 18, 2016 – Meeting Minutes

Call to Order and approval of agenda
Review of April Agenda- approved
Review of Minutes- March 2016 pending review
Food Hub Update- Tues April 26th vote- Town Council to vote and approve Morrisville Health Food Hub
which is related to the pending zone change. Expected to pass.
Bees-Mr. Tony Chiataks (?)- council member ok with MCG wanting to add Bees to the garden program
providing Liability Insurance allows it.
Insurance- Insurance deems bees as ‘animals’. This may be an issue to incorporate a bee hives in the
garden setting. Insurance is due for renewal.
Moving Forward Items1. Get truck load of regular soil- good quality soil
2. Update list of Paid Members- 15 families paid so far
3. Additional wheel barrow Class ‘C’ requested
Bed Managers/Assign Beds/Assign Plants in each bed1. Pat Lese to take on bed #38 as she cleaned it out to keep weeds down.
2. When weeding, please place weeds in black garden plastic bags and place near the painted
window frames. We are trying out a new technique of composting to kill the weed seeds before
adding them to the compost pile directly. Please note.
Garden Chores- announcements may be made weekly for updates in addition to the garden white
board.
1. URGENT!!! Before soil can be ordered, EVERYONE needs to assist as soon as possible with
trying to move the current compost pile that is blocking the access driveway. Even if you can do
just one wheel barrel, it helps. Once moved, soil will be ordered and strategically placed out of
the way.
2. Empty Beds#35,21,18,16 to be black plasticed to cook the weeds down. Use the larger garbage
bag plastic looking roll. The smaller and more breathable landscape fabric if more for allowing
plantings to grown thru once a hole is cut.

3. Plant plants. Only about 1/3 planted so far.
4. Clean up 4 unclaimed beds - #35, 21 18, 16- weed, then apply black plastic as cover
5. Whiteboard will be updated
Calendar/Outreach- Next working days- ALL hands on deck!! Blast email and Meetup calendar will be
distributed.
1. Sunday May 1st- 11am will be newbie orientation to the garden, 12noon will be start of working
day. Focus will be 3M, compost move finalization
2. Sunday May 15th- 11am- Agenda TBD- various (3M, pallets,)
Communications:
 Organic cover crops info to be distributed on main website and Meetup files area
 Bug info will be distributed as well

Treasury report
 Membership dues– Late: Ming Xu and parents membership, New members: (2 ladies) may be
taking bed#15 for potatoe planting- pending mailbox check with application + fee
 Expense Approvals:
 wheelbarrow – approx. $75-100$ for Class C- higher and larger capacity
 soil- full truck load- approx. $268.75- no delivery charge- order pending compost
relocation on driveway
 Insurance renewal – approx. $500.00
 Fence beatification- paint, brush, hexagonal landscapes pavers (4-5’’ tall)- cost TBD and
receipts submitted for reimbursement.
Note: Flowers will be paid for by Rebecca out of pocket. Expense most like reimbursedtools, equipment for the garden. Non-reimbursed items- seeds, plants- done at
members own cost.

Voted On Items: White front fence- all plantings will be removed as a fresh start and not saved to make
way for annual flowers. Any old growth like rosemary plants with deep root system will mostly likely be
cut down. Any members are welcome to remove the roots, otherwise the painting will take precedence.
