Living Room Conflict
Eric
The living room is messy. Some
of my comic books are lying
around. I’m going through them
because I want to trade some of
them with my friends. I also have
a game on the floor I wanted to
play with my sister. I need it to
stay there so we can finish it later.
I like the living room because
that’s where my family is.
Eric’s Mom
The living room is messy! Eric’s
comic books and a game are lying
around, and I keep having to step
over it all. I want to keep the
room organized because everyone
in the family uses it, and it is the
first room guests see when they
come over. Eric’s things are in the
way, and he needs to pick up
after himself. His stuff should be
in his room.

Best Friends Conflict
Tamaya
Tamaya wants to spend more
time with her best friend
Sharice. Sharice is a star
basketball player and always
wants to go down to the
basketball court. Tamaya
doesn’t like to play basketball
and isn’t very good at it. All
Sharice ever wants to do is
play basketball.
Sharice
Sharice misses hanging out
with her friend, Tamaya.
Sharice would like Tamaya to
improve her shot, but every
time she asks Tamaya to come
with her to the basketball
court, her friend gives excuses.
If only Tamaya could make
the team this fall, they could
spend more time together.

The Great Jeans Controversy
Brenda
Brenda wants to wear jeans to
school. Brenda’s friends all
wear jeans with slashes cut
into them and different color
patches sewn into them. Every
time Brenda tries to wear her
new creation, Mom says she’s
not leaving the house in those
rags and makes her change.

Mom
Brenda’s mother thinks
students should dress neatly
for school. She worries adults
won’t respect her daughter if
she dresses sloppily. Brenda’s
mom went to a parochial
where students wore uniforms,
and she thinks discipline is
much better when there is a
dress code.
Holly and Her Teacher
Holly
What might Holly’s point of
view be?
How does Holly see things?
What is Holly’s motivation for
bringing food to class?
Mrs. Trunch
Mrs. Trunch is tired of picking
up wrappers and finding
crumbs in the desks of her 9th
grade classroom. Last year she
had ants! This morning she
caught a couple of her
students eating in class, again.
Holly and Her Teacher
Holly
With all her siblings getting
ready in the morning, Holly
skips breakfast and throws a
granola bar in her purse and is
still barely on time for school.
She tries to eat it during
homeroom, but Mrs. Trunch
has a strict no-eating policy
and Holly is afraid of getting a
detention.
