Create for CHAIR-ity Contest Guidelines
Ready, set, create! Our first CHAIR-ity Reception/Auction will be held September 16, 2017. Habitat for Humanity of
Clallam County (Habitat) will auction off artistically designed chairs created by community members of all ages… with
the theme “Always Room for 1 More” proceeds will support Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County programs!

A FREE wood framed chair can be selected at the Port Angeles Habitat Store with submission of completed
application & signed guidelines. (Found on-line at www.habitatclallam.org )
A catalog of all submitted chairs along with the artist(s) bio will be produced and used for marketing of the
CHAIR-ity Auction, in addition to media coverage
A total of 6 winners – 1 in each category for Sequim and Port Angeles
o People’s Choice - Individual (18 & over) – gift certificate
o People’s Choice - Individual (Under 18) – gift certificate
o People’s Choice - Group – pizza party (date & time to be mutually agreed upon by group & Habitat)
Chairs will be displayed periodically in the artist’s community (Sequim, Port Angeles only) for public viewing,
along with the artist(s) bio
Habitat will host an Artists Reception on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 5:30 pm at Olympic Cellars Winery,
followed by an auction of the chairs. This reception/auction will be open to the public; and have a suggested
entrance donation of $5 per adult, offering a free charcuterie tastings and no host wine & beer bar. Artists
are encouraged to attend as People’s Choice winners will be announced
Theme of “Always Room for 1 More” must be incorporated in the artwork.
o Chair needs to stay intact (all mediums accepted)
o Does not need to function as a chair once completed
o All artwork must be original
Paint and other art supplies will be the artist/art class responsibility
All chairs must be completed by June 30, 2017 and delivered to the Habitat Store in Port Angeles for
submission in all community art showings (August 1 through September 15) & to be photographed for the
CHAIR-ity catalog.
Once submitted, the chair becomes the property of Habitat, photographs of the chair may be used for
marketing only by HFHCC, however, reproduction rights of the chair to sell solely belong to the Artist
Contest will conclude on September 16, 2017 at the Create for CHAIR-ity reception/auction at Olympic
Cellars Winery in Port Angeles, where chairs will be auctioned off to the highest bidder
