PRESS RELEASE ST. JOHANN, NOVEMBER 2009 EGGER RELEASES REVISED EDITION OF WOOD CONSTRUCTION PLANNING BINDER All content adapted to harmonised EU standards and for pan-European application Sustainability, environmental protection and energy efficiency are keywords that play an increasingly important role in the European construction industry. Wood construction has what it takes to meet the related requirements. With the revised edition of its wood construction planning binder available at the beginning of February 2010, the Tyrolean wood-based material manufacturer EGGER seizes this concept and offers perspectives on wood as a climatefriendly, high-performance building material. All content is now tailored for use throughout the EU and therefore adapted to the European application and product standards for wood construction beyond Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The entire construction catalogue has been updated and amended based on new fire protection assessments. The binder contains the expanded supply programme for wood-based construction materials and now also the EGGER sawnwood product range. The fully revised planning binder with construction catalogue can be used as a tool for wood construction in all EU countries. Previously the product and application information was limited to the markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Now the documentation has been supplemented with additional tested components, including their classification for reaction to fire. This is based on the European testing and classification standard EN 13501-2 “Fire classification of construction products and building elements” with 20 new classification reports. In addition to groupings in the old F30 / F60 classes, the classifications in REI classes are now also listed. The orientation tables for structural pre-analysis in the processing guideline were prepared in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 5 – EN 1995-1-1:2004. Even easier orientation and improved readability were the focus of graphical development for the binder. “In order to ensure that all relevant values can be discerned at a glance, the updated version relies even more heavily on tables for the representation of information,” explains Jana Sprockhoff of EGGER Product Management Constructive Products. With its fresh, contemporary design the binder is aimed at carpenters, wood construction companies, construction engineers, authorities and builders. It serves as a comprehensive reference for wood construction and the EGGER products available for this purpose. In addition to comprehensive product information and application technology recommendations for planners, craftsmen and industrial users, it contains an overview of approvals, test reports and certificates. These also include the environmental product declarations (EPDs) for OSB, DHF and DFF required for building certification. 01 PRESS RELEASE ST. JOHANN, NOVEMBER 2009 EXPANDED SUPPLY PROGRAMME The wood construction planning binder contains the expanded stock programme for the specialist trade available across Europe effective at the beginning of 2010. In the area of straight-edge board formats for the new Eurostrand OSB 3 E0 with formaldehyde-free gluing in thicknesses from 6 to 25 mm (15/64 to 63/64”), the programme was supplemented with floor-to-ceiling sheathing and the large-scale formats for the construction of elements up to 5,000 x 2,500 mm (196 27/32 x 98 7/16”). Large-scale formats are generally available upon request up to a size of 11,500 x 2,800 mm (452 3/4 x 110 1/4”) for all OSB types. Perfectly fitting sheathing reduces planning and installation costs, thereby saving time and money. The flooring boards with tongue and groove on 4 sides are available finished or unfinished in the 2,500 x 675 mm (98 7/16 x 26 9/16”) format. Unfinished flooring boards in sizes up to 2,500 x 1,250 mm (98 7/16 x 49 7/32”) can also be ordered. Flooring boards with tongue and groove on 2 sides in the 3,000 x 1,250 x 30 mm (118 7/16 x 49 7/32 x 1 3/16”) format were supplemented by the new narrow format of 3,000 x 675 mm (118 7/16 x 26 9/16”) intended especially for the renovation of existing buildings and for commercial construction. OSB 3 FORMALDEHYDE-FREE GLUING With the conversion to 100% formaldehyde-free gluing for Eurostrand OSB 3 E0 EN 300, EGGER is offering even better products for environmentally friendly construction effective January 2010. Boards of this type will be marketed under the designation OSB 3 E0 from this point on. The expanded programme is available from stock so that the specialist trade across Europe can be supplied quickly. For fabricators and users, the board is tested based on the RAL UZ76 procurement regulations for the PU resin binding agent. Eurostrand OSB 3 E0 can also be used as a substructure for metal sheathing and meets the requirements of the ZVSHK 2009 technical rules and standards for plumbers for substructures made of wood-based materials. The updated wood construction planning manual can be ordered from the EGGER plants in Brilon, Wismar and St. Johann or via the internet: www.egger.com/holzbau 02 PRESS RELEASE ST.
