Description: Reporting to the Head, Library Information Technology User Support
Department, this position includes the following responsibilities:
• provide computing end-user support throughout the Library
• diagnose and repair computer hardware and software problems at all levels of difficulty
• build, install and maintain computers, computing equipment, and mobile computing
devices
• provide technical support and training to library staff
• monitor and respond to help desk requests and communications
• participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plan
for desktop computing-related functions within the Library
• work collaboratively to develop solution-specific documentation and Library
information technology policies
• evaluate and test computing equipment and software and provide recommendations
for implementation
• work with University information technology staff to troubleshoot and resolve
network problems
• keep staff computer operating systems, virus protection, and productivity software
current and up to date
• serve as liaison with service contractors
• manage inventory of computer equipment and software
• develop and maintain required documentation and operational statistics
• evaluate and keep current on new and emerging technologies likely to impact the
Library and information access
• perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of job-related experience or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires experience utilizing and
maintaining desktop and mobile operating systems; knowledge of advanced computing
techniques in developing software and hardware solutions; effective interpersonal and
communication skills; ability to prepare accurate written correspondence; ability to make
independent decisions; ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced
service environment; discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information; ability to
interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of
technology experience; ability to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment; ability
to lift and move, with or without assistance, computing related equipment weighing up to 50
pounds.

electronic resources, including over 42,000 electronic and print journals, over 360 databases and
over 26,000 videos. Library collections which are broadly based and comprehensive include over
2.8 million volumes. The Library has 275 public access workstations, 200 laptop connections and
wireless access. The Library is a Member of the Association of Research Libraries, Center for

Resources, Digital Library Federation, OCLC Research Partnership and SPARC. The Library is
an Affiliate member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) that promotes
health information, education and/or access in the Mid-Atlantic Region which includes Delaware,

The Library Information Technologies User Support Department (LITUS) provides a range of
services including end-user and device support for four computing and printing environments.
The public environment consists of more than 150 general use systems and devices throughout
the Morris Library, the Chemistry Library, the Physics Library, and the Marine Studies Library.
The staff environment consists of more than 125 systems and devices used by Library staff. The
Student Multimedia Design Center (SMDC) environment consists of more than 100 multimedia
creation specific systems and devices. The Assistive Technology Center (ATC) environment
consists of more than 10 specialized systems and devices to assist students and others with
physical disabilities. LITUS staff work collaboratively to create and provide information
technology training for Library staff and solution-specific documentation.
